I know you can't tell much by no padded practice but which 2A team has looked most impressive to you so far?
I've yet to see City and Okolona since I'll see them tomorrow but as of now Bruce has looked the part. Man they're big.

Do you think they have an advantage in toughness and physicality over other teams??
It's hard to say but in a way, yes. Partially because they know that's the #1 way they win games is with their physicality and toughness so in a way they do have an upper hand in that regard.

In stature, yes. But that's the only way. Their toughness and physicality makes up for their size and that's what makes them so difficult to play against.

Sleeper team in 4-4a?
Tough to pick a sleeper out of that Region. Noxubee and Kosciusko will be very good. I guess if you want a sleeper I'd pick Houston since they were so young a year ago but no one will creep up on anybody.
How'd East Webster look???
I came away very impressed to be honest. They may not look like an imposing team, but I think they've got some great pieces in place to make it back to the playoffs. They'll have to rely on their toughness and physicality to win games and that's the way they want to play.

Who do you think will win division 1-4A? Do you think any teams could make a run to State?
My $$ is on Itawamba AHS right now. I think with the amount of talent they have returning on offense will make them very difficult to beat. Corinth though will not be easy to dethrone and I think Amory and Shannon will be MUCH tougher this year. 4A North is completely wide open so no question the winner of 1-4A has a shot at making a run to Starkville.
How do you think Smithville will be in football and baseball this year?
I think they'll be better than people think in both sports. Yes, they lost big names such as Drew Lann and Tyler Hood but they've got great guys behind them in Neil Knight, Hasten McKissick, Tristan Hawkins, Cole Williams, etc. They could definitely make it back to the State Title game in both sports but it will be tough!

Who's going to be division champs of 4-2A?
I'm not sure I could even answer that question right now! 4-2A could be the most competitive division in the state this year. I'm just pumped to see how it all plays out. I will say this: the coaches that I've talked to from the division can't stop talking about how good Okolona is going to be this year. Take that for what it's worth.
How'd Calhoun City look today?
I didn't get to see City today but I'll check them out tomorrow
How'd Eupora look today?
They looked real good. Their offense is going to be really tough to stop this season with the skill guys they have back and Trey Pittman at QB. Defense will take some time to catch up but if they do, then watch out.
East Webster boys basketball improve this year or nah?
Hard to say right now. Sam was such a huge part of the team and losing him will hurt. They were still very young as a whole last year so I'm hopeful they'll get better as the season goes on!
How louisville looked today?
Unbelievably good. I know they lost 30 seniors but it sure didn't look like it. Defense will take some time to gel but man they've got some players coming back in Dontea, Demarcus, Jalon. They're my favorite to win 3A again. You heard it here first.
How'd Bruce look today?
They looked REALLY good. Better than I thought honestly. I knew they were going to be good, but many they have some athletes and size. Biggest thing will be getting over the mental hurdle of losing to City. If they can win the Skuna River game this year, I think Bruce could be the team to beat out of 2A North.
What do you think about the quarterback situation at Bruce? Who all is in the running?
It's Wesley Ross' job to lose at this point and I don't foresee him losing it. He's got the most experience returning and he's a polished passer. Plus, he's a lot more mobile in the pocket than you think. He's not a Tae Armstrong guy that can beat you purely on athleticism but he'll be a handful for teams this year.
Opinions on Eupora High's girls basketball team?
They should be MUCH better next season. No seniors on last year's team and they had some bright spots throughout the year. I'd expect them to do some damage in the playoffs this year.

I do. He's always wanted to go to Ole Miss. He'll be a Rebel for sure.

I do. Saw him play a little basketball last year but his future is undoubtedly in football. He has tremendous size.

If Eli doesn't throw 30 INTs like last year I'm going to assume they'll be better.
I would say based more on Mullen's history that we would have to beat auburn. Auburn is always our deciding game.
You're exactly right. But I think since the LSU game comes before Auburn this year it will be the tipping point game for MSU.
EW football improve this year??
I think so. They had some strong juniors last year. I'm hopeful they get back to the playoffs this year!
