You think any of the smithville baseball starters will go play college ball?

I don't believe so. Coach Kerr told me that most of his guys are going to college to either be a student or play a different sport. I know Tyler is playing football at ICC. Now can they? I think so, but I haven't seen anyone else sign yet.

Basketball and cheerleading?

Booneville basketball is outstanding. I mean, they nearly won state titles on both the boys and girls side this year! I say it all the time, Michael Smith is the best basketball coach in the state. What he did with the Lady Devils this past year was extraordinary. I do miss my boy KPG playing tho! The cheerleaders are the bomb at BHS. Some of my favorites!

What did you think about that Smithville game yesterday?

Crazy and wild just like imagined it. Smithville doesn't play close and easy games and sure enough it was a dicey one all the way to the end!

Do you see Chet Barber as a key player for Baldwyn Basketball?

Absolutely. Bearcats don't have much size in the paint and Chet is one of the few guys that can control the lane. I haven't seen a big guy like him take charges before but he's got it down.

How do you think 1a state baseball will go?

It's going to go 3 games, no question. Smithville just doesn't play simple series, they're always playing close games. I had the Noles from the start of the season and I think they can pull it off!

are you surprised about the outcome of the tcps Smithville game last nigh?

Not at all. I knew it was going to be a down to the wire finish. And both teams had an equal chance of winning. Turned out that the tag at home towards the end which would've given TCPS the lead was the difference. Such a great series, both teams and fans should be proud of how the two squads played!

What do you think Falkner football will bring to the table for this year?

Jase & Jeramie. That's two pretty big names to bring to the table. Defense has to step up this year, that's the big key.

Do you think Duke Upshaw could get In there and b a Johnny football type QB?

It's definitely possible, but I think Duke is far too valuable as a skill position guy. Coach Gray would more than likely want a QB that he can mold into a passer sorta like what he did with Corbin. But I wouldn't be surprised if Duke does get some snaps in Wildcat formations.

That's a good question. I need to catch up with my friends on the staff to see. I know they had a competition going into this spring and they haven't figured anything out just yet.

I'm not sure. Didn't get a chance to see them. Maybe you can tell me how they looked?

What did you think about New Albany's Spring Game? And there season this year?

Still got some things to work on offense but the defense appears to be pretty stout going forward.

Do u think Hatley has a chance of being decent in football this year

Lost some talent from last year's team, so it won't be easy. They're definitely moving in the right direction notching a division win last season.

Are you impressed with oak hill beating Hatley even though Hatley had a terrible season last year?

They were up 29-8 at one point so absolutely I'm impressed. But you have to take spring games with a grain of salt. There are all sorts of reasons for some teams playing well or struggling. I prefer to look on the positive side of things and I see OHA as a team to watch for this year.

What team interested you from 4a spring game

I think Houston has something going right now. Got two good wins in the spring. Toppers were super young last year and I expect them to take a big step this upcoming season.

Baseball

Gotcha. Absolutely they have a chance to win the title. Certainly will not be easy, especially if they end up seeing Taylorsville. But the way they're swinging the bat, ANYTHING can happen.

I went with Smithville at the start of the series so I can't go away from that but I've gotta say TCPS is LEGIT. They've been outstanding this series. Game 3 is gonna be a barn-burner!
