Wow, I'm not sure I can name the BEST because we have so many great squads. I can list off my favorites: Eupora, Smithville, Louisville, Bruce, French Camp, Tupelo, East Webster. I'm sure there's plenty more I'm missing but those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head!

Best defensive player for Smithville baseball? And best offensive player?

Tyler Hood has superb range as an outfielder, at least I think he's an outfielder. I may be getting him confused with JT from last season. Neil Knight is excellent at the plate from what I hear.

Oak hill has a lot of talent but not great coaching. 4 plays doesn't win championships this day and age. I asked players parents and they don't like coaching situation.

Who will play qb for Ripley next season?

That is an excellent question. It's going to be a young guy from what I know. Either a junior or a sophomore next season. My money would be on Tucker Childers but Terrance Edgeston will be in that mix.

Whose returning from Ripley (football) that we need to know about?

Isaiah Howard is going to be the big one. He had a great season as the Tigers' leading receiver. Christian and Dalton graduate, so do Aleck and James Walter. Defense will need to have someone step up at linebacker. You could see Antonio Mullins be that guy.

Should be good this year. Only graduated 2 seniors. That strong senior class that led the football team should do the same on the diamond.

Yep. I'm planning on it happening. I've already reserved a hotel room for 2 weeks in Omaha. Book it baby!

Baldwyn will be VERY good this year. Could have one of the strongest top of the lineups at the plate in Class 2A to go along with one of the best pitchers in 2A in Dustin Kirk. If it wasn't for East Union, the Bearcats would have been playing Taylorsville for the State Title last season.

What's something you're not very good at but enjoy doing anyway?

Singing. I'm the greatest car/shower singer this side of the Mississippi river that no one has ever heard before. It's going to stay that way.

What about Mantachie's baseball team this coming up year?

They'll still be fairly young with a really strong junior class and of course the superb senior class starting to make their way up. I think the Mustangs have a chance to make some noise in a top heavy 1-2A.

What about calhoun city in baseball?

I expect the Baseball team to be just as good as the team on the gridiron. Almost everyone is back on the roster. Very strong hitting lineup top to bottom for the Wildcats.

Obviously the Tigers will miss Andrew Soper immensely. He did just about everything for them. AJ Rye and Hunter Harlow are two guys I'm looking at to have big seasons. Gotta be better than last year.

What do you think of Pontotocs baseball team this year?

It's gonna be all on the bat of Ryan Watts I think. I really like Casey James their head coach. But the strength of the Warriors will be their pitching staff in my opinion. Plenty of young talent in their rotation will make them a formidable foe this season.
