Best player at Bruce High?
I think it's Donta Armstrong. He's so athletic and versatile and as a fan of high school football, he's a highlight play waiting to happen. But Bruce is loaded with talent this year.

Who do you think is going to win Friday night, Calhoun City or Bruce! Be honest.
Honestly, I have no idea! Both teams are fast and athletic. Bruce has had the better start to the year but I still think Calhoun City is slightly the better team. But with the Trojans having homefield, it's a dead even contest.
What do you think about East Webster?
Thought they would be a scary opponent for teams this year and sure enough, they're unbeaten. One of the hardest and scrappiest teams in the state. They won't beat you with size or crazy speed, they just know how to play good, solid football. Deangelo Liggins is one of my favorite players in the area to watch.

Haven't seen Dontavis or Olive Branch for that matter since they are out of our viewing area. I have been able to see highlights of Ross Trail and he's the real deal.
What about Hernando @ Southaven?
Should be Southaven's to lose. They got off to that undefeated start but have come back down to earth as of late. Gotta win this week to notch a division win.
Have you kept up with high school baseball? If so em what do you think about mantachie baseball this coming up year?
I haven't kept up with HS Baseball so I can't give you a good answer on Mantachie unfortunately. I'm focusing all on football right now!
Best player out of mantachie high?
Hard to pick one out of that team. I'd say Nick Burns because of his versatility but you could go with just about anyone on that team. They're a great group.
What about Joseph caskey from oak hill?
Joseph is tough. He's the leader in the trenches for OHA. I like his tenacity.
What are your thoughts on Oxford at Saltillo this week? Do you think pounds is gonna put the tigers on his back and pull out the win?
That will have to happen for the Tigers to have a chance. Mookie needs to run for 2 bills and grab 3-4 TD's for Saltillo to have a shot. Oxford's secondary is one of the best in the state and it'll be tough to pass on them so for Saltillo to win, they'll have to keep it on the ground. Like I said, they have a shot. Not a great one, but a shot.

1-4a? I've heard Vijay Miller has come along for IAHS and as you said Blake Hawkins is a force for TC and we see what Amory is like without JD Poss. Who would you have calling the signals for you if you had to pick one qb out of this division?
GREAT question. I would still take JDP as a senior over Vijay or Blake. His mechanics are farther along than Hawkins and Miller and he's proven that he can put up great numbers. But if I had to take a QB for the long haul, I would probably take Will Ard from Pontotoc. He's got tremendous potential as a freshman and if he continues to mature the way I've seen, he can take the Warriors to the big time.
What do you think about Cody Mordecai from Heritage Academy?
Cody's quick, and he's got some moves. If he gets in the open field, you'll have a tough time tracking him down. Heritage is full of play-makers like Cody this year, that's why I expect them to repeat.
Who's the best oak hill players?
Drake and Drew Riley are up there, but I really like Bradley Allen. He's a great leader and plays hard. I really enjoy watching Oak Hill play, they do it the right way and that's a testament to coach Merchant.

What about Bruce?
Bruce Wayne? He's Batman. Oh whoops, you're not supposed to know that. But the Bruce Trojans have been great this year. I love seeing Donta Armstrong at QB for them. Bruce always has so much speed and athleticism, and this year is no different. Can't wait to see the Skuna River Rivalry!
Best player for West Point Highschool?
Aeris Williams. Ladarius Gallion and Roger Thomas are a close 2.
Olive Branch's game?
With South Panola? Gonna be wild. If Ross Trail can get going against that tough secondary, then the Conquistadors will have a shot. I still like South Panola to win.
Why about Houston this year?
They miss Chris Jones and Sharone Wright immensely. I like their running back Damian Fields but they lack the offensive play-makers they had last season.

If you had to put your money on Baldwyn or Mantachie which one do you think will win?
Well first off, I don't condone betting on sports. So, I wouldn't put money any games. But, if I HAD to put a quarter on which team I am favoring it would be Baldwyn. Duke Upshaw is back with the Bearcats and his playmaking ability automatically makes the Cats a dangerous team. I don't rule out Mantachie whatsoever, but Baldwyn has the home-field advantage and the momentum at this time. Gonna be a great game!

Underrated. He has good size and hands for a receiver. I think he has the potential to have a good season this year, but an even better year next season.

Agreed with Hawkins being a good athlete but throwing mechanics seem to be a big question.. His motion just seems out of whack.. And he hasn't won a division game in his career..
Very true, but he still has time to develop. Only a junior. He'll win a division game this year.
Who do you think will go all the way in 2A?
Even though they lost to Jackson Prep, it's still Bassfield's title to lose. Until you see them play in person, you have no idea how fast and how good they are. They have D-1 athletes all across the field and for a 2A school, that's unheard of. East Marion showed last week that they will be in the discussion beating Taylorsville. I still like Calhoun City to make some noise in 2A north. They have too much talent to not be in the race at the end.
Your opinion on Houlka-Hamilton this week?
Big game for both teams. Houlka has performed well as of late and Hamilton needs this to keep up with Falkner, Coffeeville, Smithville in the division race. I like Hamilton's chances but the way the Wildcats are playing, it's anybody's game.
