how do you feel about the sophomore class at Hatley. for baseball and softball

I think both classes have a ton of potential. Blake Goodin and Holden Clark are two up and coming guys from that class on baseball that are poised to break out. The sophomore class for softball is littered with speedsters. Katie Carter and Madison Seals are the ones to watch.

What do you expect from the Hatley Baseball team this year? Also what about the upcoming football season, with the school moving up to 3A?

I think you'll see a greatly improved Hatley baseball team this year. Last season was an anomaly. You'll see them compete and be at the top of 2A North this time around.
Moving up to 3A is going to be very difficult on Hatley I think, especially with football. There's a huge disparity of talent between 2A and 3A in football. I think you'll see the Tigers go through some growing pains next year in football and may need some time to adjust to the new classification.

do you know anything about 8th grade sports

Not much. We focus our attention on varsity high school sports. That gives you something to shoot for when you're in grade school is to be on TV with us when you make it to the big time!

What did you think about Amory soccer this year and how do you think they will do next year?

Boys had a great season, just ran into a tough Kosciusko team. They'll probably need a rebuilding year since they had a strong senior class. Girls are sort of the same way only I think they'll be a better team next season.

Yeah. Against nettleton senior Xavier Hobson had 41 out of the 100 points!! He went 21 for 29 on free throws

Who are some baseball players that you are excited to watch this year?

I really focus more on the teams I'm excited to watch rather than the players when covering baseball. So with that said, really excited to see the race in 2A North with Eupora, EW, Baldwyn, City and Hatley. I'm eager to see how 4A shapes up especially with Amory and Pontotoc. Those two teams are going to be VERY good this year. Can New Hope complete the 3-peat? And 6A is going to be interesting with Starkville and Tupelo trying to rise to power. Should be a great baseball season!

Looking like I'll be hunkered down at the station tomorrow and won't be able to make it out to any games. I'm bummed!

Have you had a chance to watch some of the 8th and 9th grade baseball players at Nanih Waiya?

I haven't had a chance yet. I've seen the upperclassmen. Guys like Peyton Jones, Wyatt Ball, Isaiah Eiland, Ben Cumberland. I've heard big things are on the horizon for Roper and Bryce Stanton. That's a strong group coming from NW on baseball.

You coming to the EW and Eupora basketball game tomorrow?

I will not be there unfortunately but we will have someone there for the game!

Top teams in 1 1a girls basketball?

Region 1-1A? Biggersville is the best. The rest of the division is having a tough time this year.

Yeah. They start 1 8th grader, one 9th grader, junior and two seniors. Two 9th graders are the subs, also. (South pontotocc boys basketball)

Right. That's a team built to be very good for the future. I was impressed with what I saw from the young guys when they played East Union. They've got some good players.

Baldwyn beats Eupora in 2A north half this year in baseball what do you think? That's of Eupora goes Baldwyn will be back their coach has them ready

I still think it's way too early to make predictions on who will beat what team in baseball. Now I do think that Baldwyn and Eupora will be right there in the last few who come out of 2A North including East Webster and possibly Calhoun City as well.

What do you think about Baldwyns center Zachary Pridemore going to ICC?

I think it's great that Zach was able to continue his football career. He'll have to work hard at the JUCO level but he's got a good chance to make an impact with the Indians.

South pontotocs basketball boys beat nettleton (a division game) 100 to 93 in double OT!

Dang. 100 points? That's impressive. I know they are super young but from what I saw at the Hotbed, they have some up and coming talent.
