Thoughts on ripley o-line qb running-backs?

They're VERY solid. Their offense could be one of the best units in the area. I'm a big fan of Dalton James at QB and Isaiah Howard is a beast in the receiving corps.

Whos your pick to win the 4a title this year

At the start of the year, I took Forrest County AHS but right now it's anybody's best guess. I'd still lean towards the Aggies but Ripley and Lafayette are in the mix. Greene County has struggled at times this year but they will have a say. And you can't overlook the defending champs from Noxubee County. If that offense can get it together, the Tigers have a great shot at repeating.

Who is the best qb in 4A?

Right now it's probably Tyler Allen at Saint Stanislaus with those crazy numbers he's putting up. But a QB that's closer to home that's the best is Tishomingo County's Blake Hawkins. He has the size and look of a potentially great quarterback when he gets to be a senior.

I would like to point out that the Coffeeville Houlka score widely reported as 71-0 is incorrect, and the correct score was 43-7... Most points out up in the division the year ironically was Houlka the next week at Vardaman 59-13

I'm glad someone finally pointed this out. I don't know how the 71-0 rumor got around. The Pirates are still dominating teams even without that 71-0 scoreline.

Heritage Academy Vs. Washington school?

Heritage will have to play a flawless game to beat the Generals but they can definitely do it. Washington is a strong team, but the Patriots have the belief that they can beat anyone they play.

Yeah Marcus ran an 4.31.

And it's not always about the 40 time. Heck, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice ran sub 4.6 40's and they turned in legendary NFL careers. Sometimes the 40 doesn't always tell the whole story.

What do you think about the 5-0 East Union urchins. Do they have a chance to win there division?

I definitely think they have a chance but they've been the beneficiary of a fairly weak schedule to begin this season. They have Walnut at home in 2 weeks. That's when we'll really see if the Urchins can be a legitimate contender.

What does Coach Ron Price in New Albany need to focus on to be successful in division? It will be impossible for "Cardiac Canines" to be successful in division with final second kicks all the way through.

If the Cardiac Canines keep winning the way they are, it will make the season that more exciting! New Albany in my opinion has been one of the great stories of the season. They lost SO MUCH from last year's team and yet here they are sitting at 3-3. They really need to focus on getting Jimmy Baldon involved in the offense as much as they can. I think their defense is solid, it's the offense that has to continue to score points consistently to be successful in division play.

Give em heck!

Tachie Tech! I prefer the new one I came up, which I stole from Georgia Tech: The Wramblin' Wreck of Tachie Tech. They will now be referred to that when I do the highlights on the End Zone from now on.

North pontotocs defense is solid but under sized... And charlestons I heard was pretty good

Charleston's D is always very good. I've seen North Pontotoc first hand and I like their defense, even if it is undersized. Their front 4 can get pressure in the backfield at will.

Best defense in 3A?

Louisville. Hands down and it's really not even close. Their defensive line is ferocious and Jeremy Sangster is the best linebacker in the state that no one talks about. Their secondary can bring it too.

How about Houlka?

They've got some athletes, no question. I've always liked watching Wyatt Esterley at quarterback. They have some potential and they showed it against Falkner in the first 3 quarters.

What's your thoughts on Thrasher @ Falkner this Friday?

If the Rebels can slow down Jeramie Lawrence, they have a shot. I was high on Lamart Harvey's team to begin the season, but they've been slow out of the gates. If they can go and win at Falkner, that changes everything in 1-1A. I still like the Eagles to win but Thrasher is a tricky team to prepare for.

I know you said you didn't know much about the defensive side of the ball but who's some good db's in 3a and 4a?

TT Person is one of the more underrated guys at DB, he's at Water Valley. Nick Shields is probably the best one I've seen in person, he's at Louisville. Noxubee County always has great corners as well. Haven't seen much from Ripley or Lafayette but I hear they have some good secondaries as well.

Who is the best coach in 2A?

Junior Graham is probably my favorite. He has his Eupora team prepared every Friday night and they are always extremely disciplined. There are a TON of great coaches in 2A: James Ray at Bruce, Doug Wilson at East Webster, Michael Gray at Baldwyn, Lynn Moore at Mantachie, and those are just the area coaches. Jack Clark is at Okolona as well and he's doing a great job with the Chieftains this year. There are so many great coaches in 2A, it's hard to pick out the best one.

I beg to differ...Marcus Green ran a faster 40 time than DK this summer. Marcus Green is better in open field, he's too quick.

Those two guys are quick as lightning and Marcus is my boy, but DK ran a 4.22 40 over the summer. That was the fastest 40 in the state if I remember correctly. Quickness wise, I say Marcus is probably the quickest I've seen but in the open field with that top end speed, DK barely wins the race.

Best All around team..

In the state? I still say it is South Panola. People are ragging them after losing to Memphis U but that was in the monsoon so any game from that week you can't judge teams on their performance. The best all around team in our area I think is Louisville with Oxford not too far behind.

What are your thoughts on Ripley @ Lafayette Friday night?

Probably going to decide the fate of that division. All the momentum is going with Ripley right now but can they take down big bad Lafayette? The way the Tigers are playing on offense, I like their chances against the Dores. Their offense is way ahead where Lafayette is. Dalton James has had a great season up to this point.

Have you actually been to these games or are you just seeing highlights? Or do you have stats? I think you are missing some outstanding players on your lists. John David Poss is out - how can he be in the top 10?

You never said they had to be playing. Did you see JDP play last year? Injured or not, I still see him as one of the best players in Monroe County. It's a shame he got hurt because I love watching him play.

Most underrated player with a D1 offer?

I don't really keep up with our players and the D1 offers they may have acquired, but I still feel like one of the more underrated players in our area is EJ Bounds at Water Valley. I know he's getting looks from just about everywhere, but he's off the radar of a lot of recruiters and he's extremely talented when the football is in his hands.

Fastest Player in the State?

No question it's DK Buford. End zone to end zone, he's got top end speed like you wouldn't believe. He's had a hard time getting away from defenders thus far this year, but if he gets an opening you can wave him goodbye.
