What upcoming junior at Bonneville high do you expect to have a breakout season in football?

Tyrese Bell will have a lot of the pressure on his shoulders especially as a receiver. He's got tremendous potential as Booneville's next can't miss athlete.

What did you think about the Eupora and Hatley baseball game?

About what I expected. But I'd expect the Eupora bats to heat up Thursday at home. I think this series will go the distance.

Where did you go to highschool

I went to high school in Indiana so I'm not actually from Mississippi! If you've ever heard of Noblesville, Indiana that's where I'm from!

What about defensively for the cougars

Top 4 tacklers are back and while defense is important, in 8-man offense is more important. You have to be able to score to win in 8-man and that's what the Cougars will have to do to win.

Houston has one of the best high school pitching staffs I've ever seen. You agree?

I wouldn't deal in absolutes when it comes to high school since I've only been here for 4 years but man they are REALLY good. Reid Carter, Clay Hillhouse, Kylan Carter...they are SO deep. They can turn to any number of 8-9 guys that can get it done on the mound.

Did you see Tyler Fraiser's two diving catches against North Pontotoc?

I did not and I wish I did. I know he's something special on the diamond.

So how do you think SHS Football will do with out him next season??

Honestly I think they'll do just fine. I know it's a big loss for the program but the seniors returning are a huge part of this team and they won't let themselves go down. Biggest question mark will be quarterback. If the Jackets get that figured out then they have another 6A Title run in their future.

How does East Union get back in it thursday?

I think the errors and mental mistakes really haunted them tonight. If they can cut down on those, they can definitely get back in the series no question. Got to manufacture some run support as well.

Who in the upcoming sophomore class do you think will shine next year for Booneville baseball?

I think Weston Coggin and Tyler Fraiser have the best chance. They did well at the plate this year and I'd expect them to play big again next season.

I think Kyle Noe, Cole Williams, and Micah Mccain all have the ability to play in college!

I know Micah will need surgery on his arm so that may set him back a bit but yes absolutely, those guys have the potential to play at the next level. Can't forget about Neil Knight either!

Thoughts about Coach Mitchell leaving Starkville High School

I'm not entirely surprised just because he has a history of staying 4-5 years at one school then taking on the next challenge but at the same time I talked to him last week and he was getting ready for next season and talking about what was exciting him about 2015. The job he's taking in Arkansas is HUGE. Like seriously. Starkville is big, but North Little Rock is even bigger. I'm happy for him but I know he will be sorely missed in Mississippi.

You think Booneville baseball will be good next year?

I think they may be another year removed from being VERY good. The upcoming sophomore class has some players. I think we all knew this was going to be somewhat of a transitional season losing the talent they had last year but I'd expect Booneville to be at or above .500 next season.

But did Ryan not have better stats?

Ryan Wesson and Trey Pittman have extremely similar stats. ERA, WHIP, etc. Hard to distinguish the two honestly.

What did you think about EW and East Union tonight?

I was entertained first off. That was a crazy first two innings. Secondly, the way EW was able to manufacture runs in so many different ways was impressive. East Union shot themselves in the foot a couple times tonight though but good teams find ways to win games and the Wolverines took advantage. I'd expect Brock Flemings to take the mound for Game 2 and bring it home.

Can you believe none of the seniors at smithville have gotten an offer yet for baseball?

It doesn't surprise me too much just because schools are somewhat timid in offering athletes at 1A schools. I know, it's a prejudice that doesn't make sense sometimes but Tyler Hood didn't get an offer from ICC until late so you never know what may come up down the road. That senior class though is extremely talented and special.

How about Eupora and ew softball are matched up for north half title.. They're rivals

I love it. We could have a Webster County World Series in fast-pitch AND baseball. Baseball still is up in the air but I love when these two schools get after it in athletics. Eupora has a tall task to defeat EW but the Eagles continue to defy the odds and prove everyone wrong. Should be a great series!
