Opinion on Corbin Scott's season?
Top-notch season from Corbin in Baldwyn. The last two games weren't indicative of how good of a year he had. He managed the game well, had great poise, and played to his strengths. The Bearcats really had a great season and it's a shame it was Corbin's final year.

Unfortunately, I think Bassfield is going to win but I will be cheering hard for my City Wildcats to pull the upset! I think they're capable of doing it with their coaching and personnel.

Do you think 3a will be competitive next year?
I really think so. Just like 4A was completely WIDE OPEN this season, I think that's what is going to happen in 3A next year. Charleston, Louisville, Water Valley, North Pontotoc...they all lose major senior classes. I still say though that Louisville will be the team to beat next year. Dontea Jones is back and so is Demarcus Brooks. That's all you really need on offense.

I think it will possibly be the best game at Jackson
All 6 are going to be fantastic but I will say the 1A game is going to be right up there with the best of the bunch being played this weekend.

It certainly is. It's so hard to distinguish the 2. Wyatt's stats are outstanding and also that's with the Wildcats being a balanced offense. McCarty has thrown 42 TD's and 8 ints. They're very close. Hope I'll see you at the game on Saturday! I can't wait for the Cats to bring home #8!

Smithville going to Jackson is a treat. It's been to long and so deserved. Plus, MHSAA will benefit from it, Smithville will bring their entire town with them. Go Noles!
It's going to be a phenomenal 1A game. Both schools have PHENOMENAL fan bases so I expect a great crowd in Jackson from the Noles and Panther faithful!

You betcha it is! I can't wait for that game. It is so neck and neck between those two teams. It's been an absolute pleasure getting to cover both schools this year and seeing them play in Jackson is going to be a real treat.

So them blankets have the best D and Oak Groce with the best passing attack? No love for the Louisville wildcats?!
Now, now. Let's not compare between classes. Tupelo and Louisville's defenses are 1A and 1B. They are INSANELY good. But Oak Grove's passing attack is probably #1 in the state. That's not a knock against Wyatt and the Cats, it's just how good Kirk McCarty and the Warriors are.
After this season, what do you expect from the Noles next year?
That's a good question. You lose Drew Lann and Tyler Hood, your two workhorses from this season's run to Jackson. That won't be easy to replace but the Noles' junior class is solid. Smithville is a perennial playoff contender every year so I still expect them to be in the postseason next season

Do you feel like the seniors of Pontotoc weren't given the right opportunities this year, considering it was used as a transition season? Such as Colten Bramlett, Joshua Duff, Nicky Martin, etc. Many seniors full of talet but weren't placed where they were best, affecting college opportunities?
It sorta sounds like you're answering your own question but I would agree with you somewhat. At the same time, with a new coach and a new regime you earn your playing time. That's how it is with every new head coach that comes in. I bet Coach Brown told the kids he didn't care about last year or depth charts or anything about the previous seasons. It's all about the team now. Talent matters, but with a new head coach he's going to go with the guys who play and work the hardest. I'm not saying Colten or Nicky or any of those guys don't play or work hard, but talent isn't everything.

YOU KNOW IT. Always been a fan of City. It's gonna be a tall task trying to take down Bassfield. If you can force them to be a passing team, you've got a chance at beating them. We'll see if the Wildcats will be ready for it.

No question they can win state. It's a toss-up right now between the Noles and Panthers. They're very evenly matched.

Yes it has been confirmed they might be getting more than one coach! do you no of any juniors that could step up and play an lead the cougars?
Wesley Ross is gonna be the guy that will do it next year for them. I know he's only a sophomore this year but he has a bright future as the QB for the Cougars. He's a force when he runs. Clay Hood and Tucker Babb will be the two juniors soon to be seniors that will have to step up.

Hard to take a stab at their overall record but I don't see any reason why they can't still be a team with a winning record.

Do you think North Pontotoc will have a good team next year after losing alot of seniors?
I still think so, yes. They won't be on the level of this year's team and I'm not sure any NP team in the future will have the talent that this year's Vikings squad had. You still have some good pieces returning in Brooks Shannon, Greg Gambrel, CJ McLaughlin. Gotta find a QB to take over for Trey Jolly and replacing Marcus Green won't be easy.
