EW's defensive line did not get bullied Friday night. Their offense didn't make a lot of the plays they should have. I'm guessing you didn't go to the game?

From what I saw, Jacolby Heard was able to run against that EW D. No, I wasn't at the game. Maybe bullied wasn't the right word, but the Chieftains got the win.

What do you think about Starkville high Friday night?

This past Friday? They looked pretty good. Gotta keep it rolling in that division and can't look ahead to MC.

What do you think will be the outcome of the Smithville and coffeeville game? Will it be a S-town beat down or a pirate take over?

It won't be a blow out either way. Coffeeville has been blowing out teams thus far but that won't happen to Smithville. Gonna go down to the wire!

What do you think about the Northwest Rangers and their season?

Much better than I thought at the start of the season. Former Columbus Falcon Damian Baker has been great for the Rangers this year.

What do you think about Itawamba AHS?

I think they're quietly putting together a really good season. Corinth will be the big team they have to get by if they want to win 1-4A. They looked sharp against Amory. I like Hunter White a lot.

Top teams in 2a

Bassfield is still my #1. East Marion and Lake are up there as well. 2A south is loaded, 4-2A will end up sending someone to Jackson from the north

Area teams that you think have big chance to go all the way?

Louisville, Oxford, and Ripley have shown they're legit and can go all the way. Tupelo is beginning to put themselves in that conversation as well. I still think Noxapater is a state title team and anyone from 4-2A

What did you think about the north pontotoc and kossuth game?

About what I expected. Offense really unleashed which was good to see.

What did you think about Calhoun academy Friday night?

That was a really good win going forward for that team.

any words for south pontotoc? has injuries hurt them?

I think we put too high of expectations on them after their undefeated start. They're still a good team, but they are young and undersized.

Preview of North Pontotoc at Booneville? Will this decide the 1-3A champions??

I don't think there's any question this game will decide the division title team. Booneville looked awfully good Friday night in the first half against Alcorn Central and North Pontotoc's offense really came to life against Kossuth. These two teams are hitting their strides at the right time. Could very well be our Spotlight Showdown on Friday night if the votes favor this one!

OHA continues to get better and better each and every game. That team believes now.

Do you think Calhoun City got lucky or do you think they are the better team?

At the start of the season, I felt like City was the better team but after seeing them live on the field, they're just about even. Bruce has SO much talent, and the Wildcats are just now getting healthy. Both teams were lucky at times Friday night, but both teams are supremely talented.

I was surprised that it was only 7-3 at the half. Both teams seemed to feel each other out a little longer than I anticipated. City needed that game big time for confidence after their slow start which was hampered by injuries. Bruce has the horses to make another run at Jackson, but they have got to find a way to beat the Wildcats first.
