Does Hatley baseball have a chance for playoff? And what do you think about softball team?

It's gonna be tough. Injuries have hurt them significantly this season. I think Mantachie will be the team that will grab the 4th and final seed but Hatley will be in that mix. The Lady Tigers are starting to put it together in softball. Just gotta be more consistent at the plate and on the circle.

Do you think Smithville baseball has a chance of winning state?

Absolutely. The way they're playing, I think they can definitely make a run. Myrtle is beginning to flex their muscle a bit but the way I see it, the Noles are right in the thick of the race to a State Title.

In your opinion, who's is Smithville's best baseball player? Why?

I'm not sure there's one I could single out as the 'best' but Micah McCain, Tyler Hood, and Drew Lann are the 3 amigos and are doing some real work out there right now.

What did you think of Tremont today?

I loved it! I wished it was closer so I could come visit more often. Playing ball with the guys and talking to Coach P's broadcast kids was a real treat. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Top 5 baseball players in 1a north?

Not sure I should rank players. I'll rank teams, but not players for baseball. Here's a couple guys I like from 1A North: Micah McCain, Drew Lann, Tyler Hood from Smithville. Josh & Luke Walden, Thrasher. And that entire senior class from Myrtle is impressive.

I can see Lafayette and Kosciusko playing in the playoffs. Who do you think wins?

Man, that'd be a great series. I'd lean towards Kosciusko with their experience but you can't doubt what the Dores are doing right now.

Have you even watched Bruce or City play this year?

I haven't seen either team play in person as of yet unfortunately but I know both teams and coaches and I know what they've got this season.

Nope, they're in the North now. Same division as Houston, Caledonia, Koscuisko, Noxubee & Leake.

How good will drake and Drew Riley be this year in football?

Those two will be the driving forces behind Oak Hill making a run at the AA Title. Drew has to stay healthy this year for the Raiders to make a run.

How good is Houston's baseball team?

Very. Big one coming up tonight against Kosciusko which will decide placement in that division.

Who do you think will win Bruce and CC's division in baseball?

I'm still leaning towards Bruce but the way Calhoun City is starting out in the division you just never know...don't sleep on East Webster or Eupora either.

What do you think calhoun city softball is struggling with most?

Experience to be honest. It's a very young team and when you're playing against tough competition like East Webster, Eupora and Bruce in that division the inexperience is magnified. But they're playing and competing hard every game from what I've seen.

Why is East Webster so good in softball but absolutely suck in baseball?

If having a 9-6 record means you 'absolutely suck' then you need to learn the definition of what 'absolutely suck' is because that's not even close to being it. Try looking at the Milwaukee Bucks or the Chicago Cubs. That's a good baseline for you to re-learn the phrase.

In your opinion who will win division 1-4A baseball & softball this season?

I like Pontotoc and they way they're beginning to put it together in baseball but I'm not counting out Corinth or Itawamba. For softball, it's going to come down to Itawamba and Amory. If I had to pick right now, I'd probably go with the Lady Panthers but that's going to be a down to the wire finish in the division.
