Who will Smithville have to play in the playoffs?
Looking like it's probably going to be the Shaw Hawks, which isn't a great draw seeing as how they're much better than a 3-seed.
What's your opinion on Pontotocs Colten Bramlett?
Colton has been the star and the leader of that Warrior defense. He's been phenomenal at linebacker. Without him, Pontotoc probably doesn't make the playoffs.

Oh I don't sell that Ripley rush attack short at all. They've been outstanding this year!
How far do you think Lafayette will make it?
I think the Dores are a quiet sleeper right now in the 4A Playoffs. If they can beat Itawamba, they'll have Greenwood at home. I like their chances playing on their fast track at home against the Bulldogs. If they can get those two, I think DK and Co. could make a run to Jackson.
Who is your favorite 1A team in the area?
Hmmmmm my favorite 1A team in the area...That's a tough one to answer. I'm not sure I can pick one! I really love covering our 1A teams because I know they may not be the biggest schools but they have some of the best fan bases in the area. I can tell you a bunch of my favorites in no order: Smithville, Nanih Waiya, Noxapater, French Camp, Hamilton

More than likely, yes. WV plays Kossuth at home and I like their chances in that one. If Kossuth pulls the upset, Louisville will travel north to play in the next round against the Aggies.

I'd favor Oxford right now but the way Wayne County is dominating their opponents right now, I'd watch out for the War Eagles.

Byhalia's Chris Rayford, Rosa Fort's Brandon Bryant, and I'm gonna throw Houston's Denver McQuary in that mix as well. He's been a ball hawk all season. Ripley's Vonte Jones has been great this year as well.
What do you think the outcome of the Houston/Greenwood playoff game will turn out being?
Greenwood. Big. Bulldogs are VERY good. They play fundamentally sound football and are extremely athletic.

What's your opinion on Will Ard, the Pontotoc quarterback, and all their younger players?
I think Pontotoc has a very bright future with all the youth and especially with coach Scott Brown at the helm. He's done a great job at instilling belief in the kids this year. It was supposed to be a transitional season for the Warriors and they landed a 3-seed in the playoffs. That's a great early indication the future is incredibly bright at Pontotoc.
Who 4A team showed you more than you expected this year?
Ripley, by far. I had the Tigers picked to finish towards the bottom of 2-4A and they were outstanding in the regular season.
What do you expect from the Pontotoc and Ripley game?
I expect Ripley to get the W but it's gonna be up to whether or not Pontotoc's defense, which has been stout at times this year, can slow down Dalton and Isaiah. If that happens, the Warriors will have a shot at the upset.
Do you know who Tachie Tech plays Friday?
The Tach will have Strayhorn at home on Friday. Sneaky team. What's funny is Strayhorn's mascot is the Mustangs as well. So who's Mustangs are better?

So why'd you put smithville as 2?
Point differential, as I previously stated. In a 3-way tie between those three teams, it comes down to how much you won or lost by. Smithville would get the 2-seed because of that. Hamilton the 3, Falkner the 4.
What do you think about Houston being in the playoffs?
Of course everyone will say that a team that wins 1 game in a season doesn't deserve to make the postseason. But I think every team and every kid who plays football here in Mississippi deserves a chance to play in the postseason. I'm always glad to see an area team in the playoffs including Houston.

They face a big one to start with Lafayette. Commodores are starting to put it together right now which isn't a good sign for the Indians. If they can get past the Dores, who knows how far they could go!

Predictions for 2A North Half?
Hmmmm...I'd be scared if I was Baldwyn right now having to play Bruce in the 2nd round if we get there. The Trojans would host that game at Trojan Field. But 2A north as a whole, I think Calhoun City got a GREAT draw and will be favored up until their 2A north semifinal. I still like City as my team to come out of 2A North but it's really anyone's best guess.

Calhoun Academy I assume you mean? I like JT Washington their QB. Sam Moore is a strong running back. Unfortunately the Cougars are out of the playoffs after the loss to Hebron. Had a really good season though!
