How do you think smithville baseball will do this year?
I think they'll have a chance at repeating. They lost a lot from last year but they return some very good players.

What sports are saltillo good at?
I think they're vastly improved in football. They used to struggle to compete but now they're in the playoff chase every season. Basketball made major leaps this year as well. I think they're getting better in baseball. Soccer may be their best sport.

How is NW looking to you in baseball so far this season
I think they're off to a great start. Looked good in their first 2 wins and are hitting the ball well thus far.
What players from Amory should people really watch out for this fastpitch season?
Carley Westbrook stands out. She should have a monster season. Erin Griffith as well. It's a strong junior class. I think Amory could be deadly next year with no seniors on the roster.
Do you know anything about the Choctaw County girls basketball team?
I saw them once or twice this year. They had a decent season!
My dad played with Weir when they were at there peak.
I wish I could have been here when they were dominant. Mid 1980's through Mid 2000's they averaged 10-11 wins per year and were always making a deep run in the playoffs. They were truly a powerhouse in 1A with Joe Lynn Gant as the head coach.
what are some sports programs that have a legacy in Mississippi?
That's a really good question. For our area teams: Football wise, I'd say Louisville and West Point have impressive legacies. Weir did as well but unfortunately they consolidated. For basketball, Baldwyn stands out above the rest. They love their hoops up there and they show it. Baseball I think is with New Hope. The Trojans are on another level with baseball. Mooreville is in that discussion as well. Softball goes with East Webster, Nettleton and Smithville. I'd say that's a pretty good list!
Did you get to watch any of the smithville amory baseball game?
I saw that Smithville won, which is a great result for the early season with the Noles.

Mostly south teams going to semifinals...
I think that's somewhat a product of the South having stronger teams. But the north is beginning to get back into it in the last few days.

Unfortunately I have no idea. I haven't seen Tristen play.

I think she adds another element to this team that's crucial. They need another guard defender that can shoot from 3 and she brings that to the table for EW.

What happened with Baldwyn getting out. What was the story
For one, Newton was on fire from 3 in the second half. They hit 10 3's in the game. Two, Baldwyn just had a tough time containing Newton's small and quick guards. And three, the officiating was putrid. It was incredible the Bearcats were able to have a chance to win with all of those factors.
East Webster girls basketball star right now?
Quantesha was the star today with her 23 points. She came up huge in crunch time!
What ever happens to organizing it to see who is the best
I wish that were true but it's not anymore. It's all about $$$. That was the motivation behind adding another game to the state tourney

Do you agree with the fact that basketball and MSHAA has kind of become corrupt? A lot of bad officials in all classes In 2A it's more than likely going to be 4 south teams
I think corrupt isn't the appropriate term. I will say the officiating has been horri-awful at the boys games I've seen at JSU. The girls games have had some decent officiating. Some games have been bad. But they are 100% money grubbers. All they care about is making $$$ off of their tournaments. That's why they added an extra game to the State Tournament. So fans will come down to Jackson for an extra game and sell more tickets which gets more $$$. It's silly, but that's what it has come to.
Do you think Baldwyn was unfairly treated or do you think Baldwyn fans are overreacting
I definitely think they have a good case of getting some bad/unfortunate calls. At the very least they should've had one shot to end the game but the referees ignored Coach Craven's timeout call. The game was horribly officiated both ways but I will say there were a few more questionable calls going against Baldwyn. But you have to give credit to Newton. Man they hit some huge shots and went out and won it.

I definitely think they can go back like last year. Everyone's back. Now getting there and winning it are 2 very different things. 2A South has the usual suspect in Taylorsville who's very good again this season. But you never know!

I think they're really going to miss Courtney Roberts but on paper they should be just as good if not better than last year. Tough start to the year but I think they'll bounce back!
Do you think New Albany will pull off the upset and beat McComb?
It's going to be very difficult but I don't doubt anything happening in this tourney! I believe they can do it!
