What high schools have good media departments that you know of?

I know Tupelo & Starkville have two of the best since they're both bigger schools with more resources. I've seen some great things from what Bruce is doing on social media and on YouTube. Really like what Cal Brown has done with the Trojans. He's done a great job giving that school some great publicity.

I think The Tach is due for a big season sooner or later in baseball, but we'll see if this upcoming season is it. Graduated quite a few seniors.

Skunk bowl prediction?

Boy this may be the most competitive Skunk Bowl since the game that got its name back in 2012. I'd probably side with Baldwyn just slightly since Booneville has so much to replace.

any 2a basketball teams to keep an eye on this year?

Definitely Calhoun City. They bring back just about their entire team. And as always watch for Baldwyn. Just because they lost some big time players doesn't mean they're going to be easy to defeat. Also Okolona needs to be in the discussion after their big time run to the State Title.

Whose gonna win the slowpitch Monroe County Tournament?

Right now I wouldn't bet against Smithville with what they have returning but honestly you could make a case for Amory or Hamilton or even Hatley to win it all. Monroe County may be the best county in the state for softball.

Key players for EW football 2015?

Easy to say Jack Wilson since this is his third year starting at QB but a lot is going to fall on the offensive and defensive lines this season with what EW wants to do. I'd say that whole group is a key unit to watch for. Also throw in Chase Keller and Malcomb Jones because EW will need more playmakers to step up with Deangelo Liggins graduating.

I think it came at the perfect time to begin a new era. There's some strong guys coming up and now everyone will have an equal opportunity to play and earn time on the field with Coach Reed. Should be a great season for themblankets.

I expect this to be a breakout season for Jesse. He's been building towards his senior year and I know Coach Liles has called him the next breakout star for the Wildcats. With he and Brieton in the backfield along with Jaalen Thomas, that's a deadly trio.

Who do you think will win the Hatley vs nettleton game?

I'm going to assume we're talking football and right now, if it was played together I'd give the slight edge to Nettleton. They've got some BIG athletes returning this year at Nettleton. I think Hatley is going to surprise some people this season once again. Some think they were a one hit wonder a season ago but that won't be the case.

Corey McCullough is a big one to watch at Louisville. He's a goal scoring machine. Also any 3 of those seniors at Amory are going to have big seasons I think.

Thoughts on Choctaw County football and volleyball?

Don't know too much about volleyball but football may be a tough one this year with losing Jamarcus Bradley. They'll have to find a way to shoulder on without him since he was so much of their offense a season ago. I still think they're a playoff team regardless with the talent they have and the work ethic they show.

What's your predictions on the south Pontotoc cougars this year??

I think they'll have to endure another tough season but the belief and positive vibes are there for them. South is really one-two years away from being a contender in 4-3A. They've had a couple athletes and big time players transfer which has hurt but they've got some horses coming up that are young.

It's going to be a super slug-fest this season. Team that commits the fewest mistakes will win this time around. And boy I know how bad Bruce wants to win. It's been a LONGGG time since the Trojans got one on their rival across the Skuna River. I'd still side with City as of now because of what they have returning and their recent success but it's gonna be a ball game.

Jay and Brieton are two different players that came at two different years. Jay had name recognition because he got the Ole Miss and MSU offers so early that his name was known state wide. Brieton is still getting looked at by many schools. He's a diamond in the rough, I truly believe that. Whoever lands him is getting a superstar. Jay had the size and look that SEC schools want, Brieton is still growing into his frame.

Wesley Ross is a big one. Needs to play his best season at QB for Bruce to be successful. Chad and Jordon Glaspie are two others that need to step up.

I think quarterback is a big question mark. It has been ever since Corbin Scott graduated. They've got to be able to throw the ball with the receivers they have returning and Felix Hayes coming out to play football. They also need to get better up front. They don't have as much depth as they usually do in the trenches.
