That would be a matter of what society accepts as normal. We're at the cusp of change, so having to explain to kids is part of the process.
If we ever come to the day where homosexuality is largely recognised, it would be no different if a child were to ask why a straight couple are giving each other kisses on the street.
"Because they love each other." would be an appropriate reply.

Never understood why u dislike Roy so much. Roy may be socially awkward but I believe his intentions are pure and he truly believes in what he fights for. His infamy wasn't intentional. Amos however is ungrateful, selfish & ignorant & I don't think he really hated LKY, he just wanted attention!

Amos, true too. But he's young. Him being under Roy's 'tutelage' spells trouble. Let Roy do whatever he wants. Fine. But don't start dragging impressionable young boys together with you.
You could say there's a clear bias here. Amos is still malleable. Roy is a lost case.
Besides, the question needed me to choose between the two. I had to pick one.

No big deal. Friendships come and go, so do people. I am strongly against the idea of doing something for the sake of expecting something in return.
Being kind is my choice. Him not appreciating is his choice. I cannot control him, but I answer to my own actions.

I think there will always be that common issue of coming out of the closet to the family and friends.
In terms of society's perception, I think lesbian relationships are more 'accepted' in a way. People are more used to two girls holding hands and being physically close in public. Chauvinistic as it may sound, it's a girl thing. It's socially accepted.
Two men being physically close in public? Not so much.
