Actually I'm quite puzzled, why did the petition asking for the Singapore high court to repeal section 377a get rejected?
I haven't read up about on that for a while, but if I remember the case, repealing 377a had no relevance to the context of the case itself, no evidence it was causing the party direct harm. Or something like that.
The argument against 377a is largely a moral, symbolic one. Not really about gay men being persecuted for having gay sex. It says something when it still exists, and say something when it doesn't exist.
