Says who? The politicians? You? How conservative are we, really? Every year more and more of the younger generation are speaking out in a liberal-leaning voice. Every year the voice of conservatism grows smaller, concentrated to the religious and specific middle-aged communities.
Of course, there are gay men who have been disowned by their families. Some have been outed by family members or friends unknowingly. It a shame. Before you judge our society on that, know that most of my friends who are out of the closet to their family are still alive, still doing well. At worst, their family takes an 'Don't ask, don't tell' status quo. At best, I see both partners having family dinners with the other's.

Answered this countless times on AskFM. It was natural. There was no thought. I've always adored other boys for as long as I can remember. Gay was never an issue. It only became an issue when I grew into my teens and someone said, "Gay is wrong".

Interact with people. Stumble, fall, learn. Get away from the walls and into the spotlight. Observe yourself and how you behave.
Invest in yourself. Feel like you're ugly? Learn how to groom yourself. Learn how to carry yourself. Learn how to be an interesting conversationalist (sometimes you don't actually have to talk much. Just listen.). Learn how to carry forward a conversation. Read widely but not deeply except for the few topics that really interest you. When your breadth of knowledge expands, so does your curiosity, and that can lead to many conversation topics. Learn to cook. Learn to clean. Learn how to create a budget.
The point, really is, be somebody. Be a man of worth. As my mentor used to say - the girls (or guys) will come flocking to a confident man that knows his worth. Work on yourself, and soon enough you'll find yourself with too many holes to fuck. (His words, really).

Very. I've expressed my affection to a few straight friends before. They have been a little shocked but if anything the friendship got stronger. Then again there was a lot of mutual respect between us.
