In your twitter bio, is 'aunties' a metaphor for something else or u really hate aunties that much?

I really hate aunties.

Personally, I think Joanne Peh is the perfect PinkDot ambassador. Joanne is an A-lister, intelligent, open-minded & obv not scared of controversies. Having her on board would cause a shit storm in the Chinese newspapers. Since ur so close to the org, plz suggest Joanne to them!

I'll send over your opinion if I have the chance.

ITs on the Pinkdot website. It says quote ' got motivated to step up after a meet-and-greet session with young fans late last year...One fan shared her own personal struggles with coming to terms with her sexual orientation, and it was this particular encounter that inspired them to approach PinkDot

Thank you.

Personally, the Pinkdot ambassadors this year are very weak. Patricia & Darren obv meant to reach out to the Chinese speaking population BUT, Patricia hasn't acted in Ch8 for over 3 years. Darren is pretty much a C-lister and an unknown among the Chinese speaking population. M&H? Nuff has been said

Hi where can i find evidence as to munah hirzi approaching the organisers to be the ambassadors? Anyway I believe that they're doing that to make a change and an impact to singaporeans

Some person just wrote in to say it's on the Pinkdot bio. I haven't seen it yet. You can go check.

since you dont follow your religion anymore, have you ever ate pork? and do you still celebrate festivities like hari raya?

Yes and yes. Hari Raya these days simply consists of sitting around the houses of people you see twice a year anyway for a day.

Do you what is ridiculous? If you read the bios of the ambassadors on the Pinkdot page, both Patricia & Darren were clearly invited. Munah & Hirzi however, APPROACHED Pinkdot! They obv just wna cause controversy, attract more attention which will increase their Youtube views... Disgusting!

Did they? That's new information for me. Thank you.

Your example doesn't work for either scenarios. If representing homosexuals is the case, its str forward why Hirzi is a coward. If rep an idea, also same case. Firstly the entire idea is to promote the freedom to love PUBLICLY. If Hirzi doesn't even dare to LOVE another man PUBLICLY, that makes him

Yeah my example was stupid. Haha!
Again, he has his own reasons. We are criticising the irony. I think we are on the same page in regards to that. But I still will give the benefit of the doubt, and even question if there is truly a need for ambassadors to come out publicly.

Lol I take it that u agree with this sentiment too then. IMO, the issue is tt the organisers are focusing on the wrong things. Stop trying to emphasise acceptance at the event, the gay dudes who go there obv have alr accepted themselves, those who still haven't come to terms with it would never go f

Fair point.
This falls directly within the control of the organizers, and I cannot speak for them.
I highly believe the single best action to push acceptance is for individuals to come out to their family. It is very easy for many to think gay men are different when they believe 'it'll never happen to my family!'.
But when they are being presented with one of their children or relatives, it challenges their views.
The point really is, to show that gay men are an active, real, significant lot of the society, not constrained to the stereotype of funny-looking or men acting like women.
If I had the power, I would make every single popular and famous gay individuals in the scene to come out publicly. I don't want the gay community to be represented by one Organization. Nobody should have a say over something so factual like sexuality. The power is in each and every one person as a collective. It is an everyday effort, not once a year.
I don't mean shouting your sexuality all day everyday either. That would be highly obnoxious. Just be comfortable in your skin.

but the words "representatives" and "cowardly" are oxymorons!!!! how do you represent something but you actually have a problem sorting yourself with that something in the first place...

I think you have to look at it in terms of context.
'Representatives' of what? Homosexuals, or an idea?
I think if you see it in a way as one is a form of 'duty', and the other is personal choice. It's different.
For example one can personally believe marijuana is a safe drug, and should be legalised, but it is his duty to curb illegal drug use. Maybe not a very fair example, but if the point is the ability to separate a civic duty and a personal preference.
I don't even agree entirely with this perspective, and would rather gay ambassadors simply put forth that they brave enough to come out publicly. But I also understand they have their reasons not to. Another more intelligent person might be able to put forth an argument supporting the irony. If it's fair, I can accept that viewpoint.

edit: I mean I share the same sentiments with u on the part that its cowardly. not the part that u support a malay representative.

.

that's why I said it is confusing and you begin to divide us all into 3 different groups based on a summary of what we were trying to convey!!!! you are making it more confusing okay, haha. but yeah I share the same sentiments with you!

Hahaha! This confusion is HILARIOUS. I love you all. This Sunday has been rather interesting.

significance and becomes a gay social event with no cause or mission. (end)

What if I told you that your opinion is a growing sentiment within many gay men as well?
You are not alone on this.

all the inspiring speeches tt are given there. Do they actually believe in the fundamental cause of the movement? No, most of them don't care & don't even really know what the event is abt. They treat it like a gay zoukout. Hence, its just a matter of time before Pinkdot complete loses its (contd)

Elaboration: Pinkdot's motto is 'support the belief that everyone deserves the freedom to love'. Indirectly, tt implies the ultimate goal is gay marriage. And yet, most gay dudes who go there are completely apathetic. They just go there to meet other gay ferns & to feel loved & accepted from (cont)

Funny, I thought I was the 3rd anon and not you. For the record, I SUPPORT a malay rep, just not a cowardly one...

You three are really cute right now! Haha.
I really don't have anything to say the past few questions, but I'm letting all these be published so that your views can be seen.

Honestly, the main problem is that after so many years, ppl start to forget why Pinkdot came abt in the first place. Behind the smiles and pink shirts, it is fundamentally a social movement to FIGHT for gay rights. Nowadays ppl just treat it as a social gathering to meet all their gay friends...

Do elaborate. I really want to listen to this perspective.
