I guess you could say that but idk, maybe the lyrics just seem more Hmm, (idk how to explain acruelly) maybe it seems more romantic because of the person I am! My dad and mom were high school sweethearts and they apparently listened to it everytime they went on a date lol hahah

Ah. That brings back memories.

go on hunt to get some vinyl records (I swear I'm not a hipster, no beanies and hipster glasses hahahah), my family is just really "antique" and I guess I got it from them!

Your family is vintage! Haha.

Hahah, I like it when you talk music to me :) See, this is what I meant by a meticulous mind, not that it's bad though! Ah, so i see your music is diverse as heck! I was/am/will still be obsessed with the Beatles forever and ever hahah, my family keep vinyl from the past and I sometimes (c)

I had a period where I was all about the Beatles too! That sort of died out after a while. I think it was a phase.
Peace-loving John Lennon was a woman abuser and has poor political views. Paul isn't exactly a very good singer or technically apt guitar player in today's standards. I noticed that after the infatuation wore off.
But all that taught me a big lesson. You take the good points of a person and learn from it. The bad things, you learn too... learn to avoid it. At the same time, technical prowess doesn't equate to quality. You can throw in all the bells and whistles in a performance, or use the most expensive gear on a photoshoot, but it doesn't mean anything if the end result is superficial, and insincere. People can tell. And music carries sincerity easily.

quite adorable, only son hahah. Oh right, got it! Speaking of music, what's your music taste like?

It's quite diverse but limited too. Some days I'm listening to classical music. Other days Top 40s and Dance. Throw in a bit of EDM too. I like to listen to Eminem when I'm furious. Other days I listen to what I call 'melodic noise'... they usually call it 'new age'. You know that one? The one where it's just a few low notes that go on for minutes on end. Like a humming bell.
Other times I do listen to ballads, a few classic of the likes of Barry Manilow. Popular jazz of the likes of Norah Jones. Some romantic Broadway too.
Some times I go back in time and listen to music of the 30s and 40s. I skip the disco era because it's purely trash. I disliked the 90s all the way to the 00s.
And when I really need to concentrate on work, I listen to Buddhist chants on loop... the kind they leave playing at the altar.

Some days I wished I or someone close to me had a baby. I'm under this notion that babies often bring about a good change in your life. I mean when you look at the delicate body you want not to mess up his/her life and you'll always want to give him/her your best. It's a different kind of love I feel

I feel the same way with some of my friends. I see them as younger brothers.
Is it the same? I don't know.

I've not met someone with this mindset hence you're my first, rather refreshing I must say. Though I just assumed everyone wanted a family. I read that you like (or liked) whisperings: solo piano radio, are you still into it?

Yes. My paternal bloodline would end with me if I don't have a son. My father, the youngest of his many siblings, is the only male to bear a son, me.
No I don't listen to it anymore once Spotify came about.

gee, thanks! I'd like to think I have a direction but hahaha, I'd also like life to take its course! As cliche as this sounds, life is unpredictable :) (like how I met you haha) Do you mind if I asked why you do not intend to have a family?

I think it's a waste of time and resources. It serves nothing but the personal self. What is the point? To further your bloodline? For what purpose does one need to do that? To serve his own ego.
If someone wants to start a family, I say by all means. For me, what I want for myself, I don't need to.

that's actually a good point! Then maybe I'll stick to adopting a child, besides, either way I'll adopt a child because I've always wanted to obviously with the consent of my partner. But heh, idk if it's too early to think about children but I do know what I want career-wise! (c)

Good you have a direction in your career. Really.
As for a family... I don't know. Plan ahead. Very far ahead. Anticipate the possible issues that come from raising a (gay) family, and see what are your options and resources. I can't advice much on this. I do not intend to have a family.

reading your blogposts, your bestfriend seems to be someone called "jayden". hahah.

Funny, I was just on the phone with him today, literally.
He was the guy I met in the army. Developed a paralyzing crush for him, and he was also my muse. We were both creatives but of a different branch on the same tree. Our relationship gradually turned professional, since we worked best that way. Of course not without its hiccups. He has the ability to imagine ideas and create magic, while I was the sort better for planning and technicalities. We hate each other yet love each other. The John and the Paul.
I introduced him to film, and he picked up photography. Now he's off making a name for himself at another photo studio.
I'm still doing the same thing, giving tips and advice to anyone who is interested in photo or film. Who knows, they might make a career out of it.

Did you ever confess to Sly?

No. I think it was pretty obvious anyway. But that's all a long time ago.

Kind of got the impression that you had a crush on sly? Is there any truth to that?

That's pretty accurate.

hey, nope I'm not in Australia although I wish I was! For the family, I'd love to adopt a child of course but it'd be cool to have mine and/or my partner's sister to be our surrogate mother hahah (is that crazy?) What are you up to now?

I couldn't accept having a surrogate mother, personally! I think the mother would be naturally inclined to have an emotional attachment with what is basically also her child. It would be unfair for her to take the child away from her, even if she formally agrees. It doesn't sit right with me.
I'm currently packing up the studio.

what do you think changed along the way? malays are generally the most homophobic people in sg. do you think its because of religion?

I don't think there's any one sole reason. It's just the passage of time. Religion, cultural identity, and politics played a part.
The Malays now are very different in their identity compared to those in the 15-18th century. You would actually have to argue now when you mention Malays are a mix of sub-races from the seafarers of Taiwan to the aborigines of Papua New Guinea, and a whole mix between them.

U used to blog for Nuffnang?

No, I was under their list of bloggers once, for a very short time. But I never did any ads. I was steadfast with blogging what I wanted, without outside influences.

Was skimming through your old blog and just wondering, how did you meet Sylvester Sim and are yall still in contact?

I was at one of his mall appearances during the post-Singapore Idol days in 2004/5, using a video camera to record his performance. His parents approached me from the crowd and we all become friends. I used to regularly go over to their place as well.
Last Sly and I spoke was a few months ago and we were talking about his new work at a bar place. We almost met up but I got busy with work to find time.
