I don't know. It felt like a rite of passage. The problem then became such that now I cannot be vocated into more active units. If given the choice I would sign on for about 10 years into an active combat unit. But that's all over already anyway.

I think it's just the fact that it's Malaysia. The Malay community there, at least the vocal ones, tend to be quite a bunch.
But I'm also noticing equal numbers of Malays who shoot back at this craziness. So I guess that's good.
