The club and pub scene isn't as vibrant anymore to be honest. There's only one gay club left, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for fresh music. I think people have left on to club at other places like Zouk. Music and energy is better, and I think people don't really care if you're gay in a straight club anymore.
Back to the gay scene, people tend to just sit around with friends in the pubs, just chilling and walking around Neil Road. It's very very subdued. A pale comparison than what it was before PLAY closed.
I would recommend Outbar and Tantric, regardless.
And for newcomer tips? Don't be an asshole. Don't take things too seriously here. Remember that that stretch of Neil Road does not represent the entire gay community.
