Do you think that a top&top/btm&btm r/s would work compared to the usual top&btm r/s? Even if it could work, do you think that kind of relationship will last without sex? Not saying sex is a must but it's just there to forge a better r/s right?

I think the top/bottom roles only apply when it comes to something superficial and quick, like a one night stand.
I've come to realize only recently that when you really love someone, the roles don't matter. You just go with the flow. 'Top' and 'Bottom' comes with its own stigma, implying the Top is masculine, and the Bottom is feminine. I think it would be highly ironic that we try to fit in gay relationships to follow heterosexual norms.

How can one differentiate a straight person from a gay person? Physical appearance aside.

........ catch them in the act of making love and see if they're sleeping with a man and totally serious about it?

I noticed you mix around with chinese a lot, can you speak or understand mandarin?

Barely. My friends tend to speak English.

Do you think Singapore will ever allow gay marriage?

Not for the next twenty years at least.
Singapore as a population is sorely lacking in matters of empathy, personal responsibility and tolerance. At some point in history we regressed into this bitter, narrow-minded, selfish and self entitled mentality. I place the blame squarely on the post-baby boomer generation (ie mine and your parents).
The country is improving, as I see promise in our generation. They're more civic-minded and active. They haven't come of age yet to take the reigns of influential positions. Until then we'll just have to wait.
As much as I believe we should take a stand for LGBT rights, I also recognize certain things have its time and place. Rushing too quickly may unravel the fabric many of us have work hard to craft together.

Is Play a gay club? Owned by a gay person?

Play used to be seated at 21 Tanjong Pagar Road whose customers consisted mainly of young gay men. We also welcomed straight people and do not restrict entry because of a person's sexual orientation. The club ceased operation earlier this year due to a rental hike, and the Play team now does roaming parties every 2-3 months. They've been very successful. :)
I cannot disclose any personal information of our branding owners.

How do you compare Play and other similar clubs like Taboo for example?

They all have their own niche and fan base. Each has their own identity and vision.

but if i'm discreet then won't an app be better? what meet ups are there?

I like to tell people if they're discreet how else are you gonna meet people?
I don't fancy apps because I don't believe that's how one should know a person. But, it has its merits of making the first contact.
Meets ups like Gay SG Confession's (one is happening this 20th) tend to have a lot of similarly discreet people. Otherwise if you have other gay friends maybe you can join him when he's out with other gay guys.
I don't really know how discreet people get about to be honest. It all always seem to happen with luck; same school, same class, random chance...

Do you think it's alright to be candid (and hence potentially politically incorrect) on online platforms such as this?

I think there's a time and place for everything. We started off believing that as long as it's in public space, we need to be 'politically correct'. As our personal communication becomes more apparent in public space, I think it's time we started viewing things in context.
I really don't mind being candid within reason. Some people are too sensitive, or lack the aptitude of critical thinking or recognizing humor, or believe anything that goes online has to be in the manner of an official government conference. It does tend to fall into the trap trying not to offend anyone that any opinions become neutral enough to be practically useless.
I love joking about. I like being candid. But I understand still that there also needs to be a certain sense of decorum when writing on the fly in public space.

i want to meet more gays for dates and stuff, should i use jackd?

If you can sieve through the people who are out just for a fuck, and those few handful that are genuine.
You'll have better luck in a real life social setting such as birthday parties or meet ups.

Have you considered video responses to some of your ask.fm questions?

Yes, and quite honestly it'll be less effective than text. Text is more lightweight, and easily transferable. I would to hate someone go through all the trouble to watch a video for some sloppy answer.

Are you a baker? Have you baked anything or what's your favourite thing to bake? If not, what would you like to try to bake that you haven't baked yet?

The only time I've ever tried baking was with my ex. We made cookies. They... didn't work out. He's a great baker though.
If I could I'd wanna learn how to bake bread. Gotta get the basics right first.

How did you find a job in the club? What were the qualifications they were looking for?

Play was the only club I truly patronized. I first stepped in in 2009 when I was 21. Never stopped going there every weekend.
Soon enough I was shooting for Play for a good year or two. It was only after I left the film industry did I decide to explore a new career path. It was easy getting in cause we all knew each other already for a while. I had technical skills that were relatable too.
Granted, initially it was more of a job to tide me over and meant to be temporary, but I've grown to deeply respect my boss, Bryan Wong. Boss would be wrong, more like a mentor. I observed how he ran both restaurants and clubs, saw how he handled issues. I came in incredibly tensed and he has guided me enough to calm me down and control my temper. Events are way different than film sets. Everything exists in the present. On film sets I'm used to berating people and controlling with a heavy hand. Events require a lot more zen.
I picked up how to handle club lighting systems there, manually controlling all the lights during opening hours. Isaac taught me how to count beats and anticipate reactions. The other Play staff I observed how they ran a bar and I would spend as much time learning about alcohol and all the different types of drinks. I dabbled a bit in the restaurant too just helping out washing dishes (there's even something to learn from that) and taking orders. Never worked in the service line before prior.
It's been over a year now with Play. I've learned so much.
I've come to learn outside of a corporate environment it's very possible to survive and be successful. It truly is about who you know, and how damn well you do your job in return.

SAME THOUGHTS GURL. I don't have plans to settle down for a family, but marriage maybe? Together with the person I love, travel around the world together, go on roadtrips & adventures. Doing some part time job in different country so that we have enough money for our next destination.

Yeah I aim to have that kind of life really. Wandering nomads, surviving with whatever is on our backs and the graciousness of mankind.
I intend to write journals of my travels if that ever happens. At least there's some practical income from selling those stories so in case shit really hit the fan I've something I can pay the medical bills with.

Hope I'm not interfering into your personal matters, but why don't you have plans for marriage in the future?

I think, quite simply, I don't see myself settling down for the long term even within the ten years.
I foresee myself consistently moving about, traveling and settling down into a home and building a family isn't how I want my life to be like.
Maybe one day I might find someone who has the same sense of adventure as I do, but until then, there's nothing on the cards. Everybody now seems more contented to move into a home and live their lives out happily ever after.

Oh is that so? I thought it was pretty common for teenagers to go topless more frequently than the other age groups. (such as during sports, chilling in a park, at home.)

I think that's fine. Singapore is hot and humid. I'm usually also just in the short shorts and singlet/topless at home.
The weather here is ass.

What do you plan to study in future?

I'll probably get into history or some sort of craft like special effect make up.

What colour leather do you prefer then? Black or brown.

Really depends. Black looks cool but it never really did well on my skin and regular outfit. I think I prefer looking at the quality of leather. It's not easy to find good leather on cheaper watches.

Why do guys (no offence, but especially Malay boys) like to go shirtless for no reasons? Like you can see them shirtless anywhere.

I can't really say anything about Malay boys going topless cause I haven't notice that.
As for gay guys, it's more than often some sort of calling card to get attention. The gay bod culture, I read somewhere, could possibly be coming from the need to show others that they are healthy and strong, therefore potential mating partners. I am quite half hearted on that reasoning. A hot bod is pretty attractive anyway, and it's really easy to get validated once you have one.
The younger boys show their bodies less often in clubs compared to the older guys these days, a signal of the change in trend, but parade it just as much in the comfort of social media.
At the end of the day the goal really is two things: validation and empowerment.

Do you prefer watches with metal bracelet straps or leather straps?

Leather. There's a certain touch of class with something organic coupled with mechanical engineering, and isn't too flashy.
