When you talk about mixing castor oil with DMSO, do you mean Dimethyl sulfoxide? Why you do this? Where can one buy oral castor oil? ty

Yes. For absorption and to reduce viscosity somewhat. Oral castor is easy to find, ebay is one source.

I've been taking tamoxifen since I started to develop gyno as I take spironolactone , I just wanted to know whether tamoxifen is hair safe. Been taking for 2 weeks.

You shouldn't be taking Tamoxifen at all since it acts like Dioxin in the body: http://www.ergo-log.com/nolvadexmechanism.html But then again you also shouldn't be taking oral Spiro. But back to your original question, yes blocking/reducing Estrogen is always detrimental to hair no matter how you do it. Estrogen in the scalp actually decreases PTGDS/PGDS which is responsible for PGD2 conversion.
Isn't it funny how all those substances fall in place under the prostaglandin theory? Finally unified, all neatly and logically.

Swiss, great job , inspiring, hopeful and helpful. Two questions from me: 1)Re Castor oil, if I take 2 pills (1.5g) will work fine? 2)Any natural remedies for lowering/fighting PGD2 and increasing the other 3 PGE2? Maybe flax oil.

I take 1ml and you can't directly convert volume to weight. But here's what I'll do.
I'll do you a favor, I'm going to weigh my empty syringe, draw up 1ml of castor and weigh it again...
There we go, 1ml of castor is equal to 2,1g
Some of the other askers have suggested some stuff, you should read the previous answers.

Very informative site Swiss. Can you maybe share some background infos on your education - like, are you a biochem, pharmaceutical, or medicine student?

I'm a very specialized programmer with many friends in the fields you mentioned. But no I don't work in any of these myself. Biochemistry is a bit of a hobby of mine ever since I got bored of the computer and hacking stuff. So I usually end up pestering my friends who work as Chemists, Geneticist, Doctors and Bioengineers with questions whenever I get stuck somewhere. I'm also an INTJ which is a somewhat rare personality type, only 2% of the world population. So I enjoy absorbing myself in complicated things and figuring them out. http://www.16personalities.com/intj-personality

Great job man! I'm deebly impressed. Please promise not to keep your formula to yourself or a company, when they come along in a couple of weeks, and offering you a billion dollars for your recipe.

Lol no worries I already put 90% out into the open anyway. I don't have a patent on it so it's not like I can sell it. And once we find cheap alternatives for the more expensive stuff in the protocol we won't need companies either.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostaglandin-D_synthase Looks like those studies and the other question posters were right, selenium disulphide is listed under PGD2 synthase inhibitors in the reference section under "prostanoid signalling". Should we start using Selsun Blue?

That's up to you. It does sound promising. If you pick a shampoo make sure there's not too many other things in there, caffeine and aspirin for example are cox inhibitors and would counteract pge2 expression.

Are there any spots left on the PHG group buy?

Yes a few I believe. Not very many though. swisstemples@gmail.com if you want an invite.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22204820 In light of this study, should we be considering the use of tretinoin to increase PGE2 expression?

I have a long history with tretinoin. It's a bit of a fickle beast. Pick the wrong percentage and you end up damaging your hair instead of aiding it. Yes it can be useful but it hasn't been worth the trouble I had with it in the past. Make sure you absolutely know the dosage and how often you apply it before you try.

I am interested in group buys for seti/PGE2, but have no clue what actual prices will be. Can you give any sort of approximation?

These were the groupbuy prices for raws where I participated in:
Setipiprant $340 per 25g
Prostaglandin E2 $230 per 100mg
That's enough to last me a year. I'll probably have all my hair grown out by then and can go back to maintenance.

Excellent work, many thanks for your efforts. Relatively new seeker for recovery: started noticing thinning 2 years ago, noticeable temple receding for last year. Can't take fin/dut for medical reasons. I have not tried minoxidil yet...would you recommend I try minoxidil before trying your protocol?

june012
No problem we are all in this together.
If you can't take fin/dut for medical reasons then maybe you should first ask your doc about minox too. Not that it affects sex hormones but you didn't state what you're suffering from. Minox alone is unlikely to get you far if you're not combining it with a 5ar inhibitor. (look up the big3)
Maybe you want to look into topical anti androgens such as RU or CB.

What is the alternative of Sunburn for diffuse thinners? :\ Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You are doing great job. Thanks!

Anything that raises pge2. Some of the guys have already suggested alternatives here in the questions, have a read and you should find something.

Dinoprostone technically is PGE2 right? So to answer the other question, one could technically use the dinoprostone vaginal gel on their scalp, correct? It's quite expensive though

Yes Dinoprostone is the bioidentical form of PGE2. It's hard to get though as it's usuallly only used to dillate the cervix in women (birth). And yes not cheap either. I looked into getting some when I first started the protocol but there are very few sources and the few ones there are, well you're still gonna pay way too much. I'm about to receive some pge2 powder from a good friend myself. Way cheaper to get the raw pge2.

Couldn't find the full paper, study archive sites required me to either pay or register. I think it should in theory work though (setipiprant works on lungs, originally studied for asthma and castor oil for induction of labour) PGs are PGs all the same, no?

It's not that easy actually, prostaglandin expression does sometimes have different triggers in different tissues. I've seen a study related to mice heart for example which spoke about heart tissue exclusive secretagogues. Maybe you want to join the forum, you sound like someone worth having around to join the discussions. Contact me at swisstemples@gmail.com for an invitation.

Swiss did you see the update from Kythera today? Maybe you made them kick it up a gear ;)

Yes I did haha. Good news for everyone, but it's still gonna take years until we can get it prescribed.

i don't understand why you will go back to dutasteride if you find the good road for maintain and revover with this therapy

I don't get any sides from it and it maintains my hair. Why not? Maybe switch to oral seti once it hits the market in uhm... 2018 or so.

Where can real/pure PGE2 be bought?

I don't think you can buy it anywhere outside of groupbuys. At least I'm not aware of such a place.

Based on one of your other answer that said you need wounding if you've been bald for years, let's say your temples haven't been bald for very long (i.e. they had hair 1 year ago) can you regrow them without wounding/progenitor cells?

Yeah it's likely. Takes a while for the pgd2 to kill your bald zones for good.

Based on what the other guy asked, do you think ciclopirox would be a good adjunct to wounding or is it useless?

I'd stay away from it.

Regaine Australia's website mentions something about silicones impeding the absorption of topicals, do you think this is true and if so does the shampoo and/or conditioner you use contain silicones? (dimethicone is a common one, siloxanes are less common) http://www.regaine.com.au/products/pregaine

Silicone shampoos coat hair to make it look better than it really is. Part of that coating can make it to the scalp, true. No I don't use a silicone shampoo.

http://www.fpnotebook.com/derm/Pharm/Cclprx.htm Sorry for all the hype with one of the earlier questions about ciclopirox and prostaglandins, it inhibits COX, which like you said in the blog, snips the chain too early, no?

Hey no problem, thanks for letting me know. Yeah cox inhibition should be avoided. You can in theory use it as a "dirty pgd2 inhibitor" as long as you use exogenous PGE2 but it just sounds too risky to me.

Hello again Magic Swiss! Sorry for my previous anonymous state!! However.. a simple question! when do you think you will finish in writing the article completely? Thanks!

Hello Magic account01
I'll try my best to put some time into it this weekend. Don't have enough spare time during work days.
