>Orlando Bloom as Legolas in LotR// Goddamnit we're gorgeous.

Funny thing is I didn't even do that on purpose and hadn't ever thought of it before until asked. I always saw Brynden as a very handsome sort, the Vayrian features were at last strong in his facial features and structures. But now here we are and I cannot unsee it.

wait Isis was maimed?

"The draw the shaw back and your eyes widen, from pain, anger, pure rushing hatred. Isis turns her head to the side, a scar from her left temple runs to the back of her head, coarse fuzz grows about it though otherwise her head is shaved bald, knicks and cuts strewn about it. The silver you remembered… Gone."
From Thread XXX. Yeah just a little maimed.

How likely is it for Wimnton to overcome the loss of his own son to madness? He doesn't seem like a particularly strong willed individual, especially after he sort of gave complete reigns to Samuel to run the house

He will eventually, but it's a hard road. He had already seen his elder brothers and a nephew lost to war and what he considered madness. Lost his wife to war. And so on.
Winston has never been a particularly strong willed person, as indicated but how much he allowed Brynden to manhandle him the first time they met. And in the end he truly thought Samuel had the best interests of the House at heart and would make a good Lord someday. He really thought Brynden could get through to him to value his family a bit more. Winston really just sort of lost it as the years went by, always wanting to see the best in those he still had. Honestly he sees a lot of the good in Brynden, but totally ignores how he can be that ruthless sellsword sometimes.

So which Hollywood actor matches Brynden in appearance?

Orlando Bloom as Legolas in LotR. Which is hysterical, I hadn't really thought of it until asked and then immiedately thought to myself, "God damn it, didn't mean to do that."
I'd say obviously less elfy, more beardy, probably a bit beefier but not by much since Brynden is sort of a lean muscled build, definitely a lot more beaten up physically (the scars and etc.) but still with that 'fair of face' aspect because you know Valyrian blood. Even the hair style is pretty close.

So, uh, who would we look into having a brazen horse commissioned? Just asking for a friend

I'm sure Master Yarson could help in a couple months. He has a penchant for 'artistic' metal craft.

So did we ever tell Mason what Elionwy did to that spy? How did he react?

Brynden never mentioned it, Mason is vaguely aware because while he was choking half to death he was watching Elionwy fight her. He actually had no idea Elionwy could fight so that was a surprise, and it's not like she can/will volunteer the information.

Dat cooldown hug from Elionwy was real sweet. Will Obella give us cool down hugs like that or will she encourage our anger?

Elionwy knew what needed to be done, she's seen Brynden angry before, or at the very least is aware of how the family deals with anger. I'm kind of glad people like Elionwy a bit more now, she's a favorite of mine that I never get to write or show off.
Anyway, Obella isn't really aware of how bad the anger can get. Brynden would never lash out against her or the children. Dontos is a bit different because they've always butted heads but in the end it formed a mutual respect. Obella will grow to care dearly for Brynden, her having his child is already instilling that in her, so while she'll understand his need for revenge and how overwhelming angry he can become and might let it go on a bit longer than is healthy, she'll know when she needs to step in.

Did you have fun with that interrogation scene? I was strangely pumped after reading jt

I actually was going entirely off the cuff with that one. I haven't written vengeful angry Brynden for a good bit, and certainly not to that extent. I was surprised with how many people were into it.

How chuffed should we expect Dontos to be when he sees Isis and finds out he maimed her? Proper chuffed?

Right proper. To say the least.
It's the maiming that is going to be the worst of it.

So what kind of response should we expect from our lady wife's Dornish entourage when they find out Lady Nera Dayne was murdered and had her identity stolen by a spy?

Obella is going to be less than pleased to put it lightly. I don't want to give too much away on that front because I plan to make that a scene at some point.
In general, they are not going to be happy, luckily most of your guests won't blame Brynden directly, especially after they find out what she was doing and who she worked for. But there is going to be one who will blame Brynden almost entirely.

So how pretty was the spy before she accidentally fell face first into a table and accidentally got her cheek ripped open? How pretty is she now?

Pretty enough to fool Brynden, mostly because he didn't really pay much attention to her. That's the only reason she was able to get away with it as a side note, no one but Brynden had any major interactions with Nera and she was sent on her own to get things ready.
Now? Eh... Not so good. Benjin did what he could for her, but missing seven of your front teeth and being scarred up is not the best for your looks.

How plausible is it to convince Wesley to join our next tourney? Are the Hayfords desperate enough for a positive influence that they'd take us up on that olive brqnch?

Wesley doesn't blame Brynden for anything that happened and he will be attending the Tourney. If Brynden doesn't pick him as one of his Champions, incredibly unlikely as it is, he'd be pretty upset given how much emphasize Brynden places on family.
Winston on the other hand is in a dark place right now. Watching his son died has really gotten to him and he still hasn't been able to pull himself out of it. So he'll be in Hayford during the Tourney, but not out of disrespect or anger.

I forget, has Mason proposed to Elionwy? If not, is it more likely that he will after his run in with the Stranger?

He has not. Not yet at least, I don't think the concept of 'dating' is that common in Westeros, but that's basically what it is now. In 2 months they'll have been together for a year, and at some point it's likely Mason will ask Brynden permission.

So how worried was Benjin about funds during the house fortune meeting?

He was worried to an extent but understood that he wasn't the House's priority at the moment. If it hadn't happened he would have been down, but not to the point where he would have been upset with Brynden over it. He understands that he's a Maester and the House's needs come first.

You mentioned that having a stewardess opened up some upgrades. Can you point me to the page in the rulebook where I can find them?

Page 26 of the Out of Strife, Prosperity supplement, right under Steward there are the upgrades of Skilled Overseer and Seneschal. The latter is pretty good.

Will Elionwy being made a stewardess be acknowledged in-game? I know she basically serves in that capacity already, but this feels like a permanent, big show of faith on our part given how suspicious we were and still kinda are.

Oh yeah definitely. How I've seen it is Benjin has basically been using her for the position, but only in a support roll as he typically keeps the books and what have you. What's going to happen is she's going to be allowed into his archives and up to date on all of the Houses incomes and books and she'll be handling it full time now. Which works out perfectly given Benjin will be leaving shortly and Brynden would have had to do it. So yeah, she'll get the acknowledgement in game, and will be Mason's better half whenever you leave him at home to be your castellan.

Was Brynden the black sheep in the family even before he ran off to Esoss?

Kind of, sort of. Isis and him were very similar in their desires for more in life than their stations. But Brynden was the only one that really went through with it, willing to throw off everything, his family, his name, and his inheritance for love and adventure. All things considered the family definitely considered him the black sheep, and their downplaying of him is what left a few of the neighbouring Lords and Ladies to have different opinions of him when he returned.

How did the family react when they found out about Lysa ? I assume they were not pleased but how did they specificly feel ? Mother seemed to be very "boys be boys" when she mentioned she would let Lysa and the child stay in Steadhold.

To preface, none of Brynden's family outside of Isis knew about Lysa until she was pregnant and Brynden was demanding to be allowed to marry her.
Lord Vamos, Donold and Pastorn were varying degrees of disapproval. Vamos was ready to pay her off and be done with it, before Brynden started fighting with him and demanding he be allowed to marry her. It caused a pretty big rift between father and son, extending to Donold who saw his brother as a degenerate and told his father it was best to disinherit and banish him. Donold was sort of a dick, he was very pious like Dontos, and saw bastards and wanton sexual interactions as a sin. He actually died a virgin, waiting for his marriage that got put off because of the Rebellion. Pastorn disapproved mostly because he thought it was the right thing to do. He didn't have an opinion for the most part.
Lady Esemella loved her son very much, but thoroughly disapproved of Lysa and their bastard. She knew her son the best and knew he would do something rash if the rift between Vamos and Brynden grew. So she tried to placate him by allowing Lysa and Victus a place in Steadhold, but she still expected him to do his duty and marry the Lady Sunglass. Clearly that wasn't enough for Brynden.
Isis actually loved Lysa, when she would visit King's Landing they would play music together and Lysa would tell her stories about Essos. Whenever she found out Lysa was pregnant however she knew things were going to change immediately, because Brynden had become distant from the family to begin with, this would cause the end of it. Isis argued with her father about it a few times, only to be told to mind herself and it was not her business. Victus was born in Westeros, right before they left and Isis was there for it, and was the only one that knew they planned to leave not weeks later. When she found out about Lysa's death she wept, and the few letters she sent and received always contained news about Victus because she loved him so. She's actually going to get very emotional when she sees Victus for the first time in nine years.

How was Brynden and his siblings as children, how did they view eachother and how did Dontos view them ? What was the general expectations for them and what did they want ?

So Dontos was actually a kid/teenager not too much older than Brynden and his siblings, for the most part he filled the older brother role for most of his brother's children. It was an odd situation.
Anyway, Donold, Brynden and Pastorn were all pretty similar as kids, which is just typical children really, none of them were the bookish type and all had that martial bend. It wasn't until Donold became a squire that things began to change, because then of course he realized that he would be a Lord someday. His father arranged a marriage for him with the Celtigars (I never got to that tidbit of info because of the Celtigar incident) and he started to serious up and seeing himself as better than his brother. Meanwhile Brynden was starting into his dashing rogue stage and was constantly butting heads with his older brother. As to be expected. Pastorn was a bit on the plain side, he didn't have great aspirations, just wanted to travel a bit his only dream was to become a Knight and serve the future Queen hopefully sending him to Dorne some day. When Brynden left he became a lot more serious for the sake of his mother and just put his wants aside.
Isis was your typical girl as a child, she loved to sing and dance, and her father had her take lessons with the harp. Something she hasn't played in ages. From the Dontos flashback you can see as a child she had this romanticized idea of Knights and Ladies. Growing up she sort of shed that, instead falling into Brynden's path, and as a result often bickered with Donold about her 'place' in the family. She was hard headed and tough, still is by all accounts.
For the most part Dontos thought of them all as good children, though he was very close with Donold. If Donold had survived it's very likely he would have been his closest friend and adviser. Since he and Brynden were both in King's Landing he did often fight with him the most, telling him he needed to accept his place in the world, etc. He thought little of Pastorn, outside of him being a very plain and humble child. And Isis completely threw him, Dontos wasn't good with women in general in his younger years, but Isis' intelligence and will just had him in pieces whenever she was around, he defaulted to quiet guardian around her for the most part. A holdover from when he was younger and she always cried for him first whenever something scared her.
Expectation wise, Donold was the model Knight and Heir. He was a more than capable fighter and Tourney Knight. He was particularly well versed in matters of horse and Gawen favored him greatly for it. Really that's all he ever wanted, to be a good Lord. He was just sort of a dick about it to his siblings. Pastorn and Isis were expected to take their places as a Knight and Lady respectively, though both secretly harbored hopes for more. And of course Brynden was expected to be a Knight, if things had gone differently Donold would have landed him in Blackbridge Tower someday, but we all know how that went.

I find there to be a lack of any tangible failure within malroy quest in short are you being soft on us?

I won't lie, I have noticed that as well lately. I think the issue is we haven't really been in the position to see failure for awhile now. A lot of the stuff we're doing is pretty lowkey typical Lord stuff, throwing Tourneys, getting married, etc. Meanwhile Royce your primary/secondary antagonist is finally coming apart at the seams and we're really beginning to see that. A lot of the things that could be considered bumps in the road are really me just giving Brynden his lumps and reminding everyone that he isn't all that special. Truth be told, I didn't actually plan on Jon Arryn giving any sort of reward for Dorne outside of the Isis visit. But the thread didn't seem to be going in a direction that I could actually do that without all hell breaking loose. After that the reaction to your 'evidence' not being substantial enough to really do anything as of yet. And then it sort of snowballed from there. So yeah.
All of that being said, Royce's 'side' is still bigger, stronger, and has Crown backing. Any sort of direct action against them right now would result in the Malroy's losing. I think the player base in general has come to terms with this and are being far more cautious which results in lower key activities with lower degrees of failure. I would say Samuel interactions and trial were a complete failure. No one really seemed to grasp that he was a character that wouldn't be placated by words and familial connection with a massive inferiority complex and ultimately it lead to him finally breaking down. Samuel's interactions with Royce and Tychano were purely money driven and for the right price he would have sold them out.
In short. I do feel like I'm being soft on you guys right now, but the way the playerbase and threads are leaning results in an easier time on the player. Hell we've been in combat a handful of times, and Samuel's barely counted because he was rolling with a 2d6 spread, so no real failure on that front. But on the same note I don't want to 'ramp it up' because then we'll get people complaining the new difficulty is unwarranted. This is obvious in people not being happy that your evidence wasn't substantial enough yet. So I'm at a cross roads. To preface, no offense to Iron and Hate, but I do not want my quest to be that easy or have everyone love Brynden. And unfortunately that's the sort of road we're taking right now. And yes, I see it as a major issue.

>He as three different paths// As much as some people want it, I don't see him becoming a sellsword. I see him becoming a model knight who eventually makes his own house through sheer ability and dedication. (Also the fact everyone loves him)

To avoid spoilers I won't say what path he's on right now, but my preference is for him to be a True Knight type. It would be fun as hell for me to do a spin off with Victus maybe somewhere in the Riverlands during the War of the Five Kings.
That being said, in my RL game Victus right now is sort of half Brynden half Dontos. He earned his knighthood but ended up going to Essos a little bit before the books for his own reasons. And now he's just chumming it up with the Golden Company. That's really not an end result in our game, mostly it was done because I like crossing my characters over.

>So Victus will probably fall into the same roll as Dontos does for Brynden// So they will be a giant pain in the ass for him is what you are saying ?

If it's a girl a lot more than if it's a boy. Both ways there will be some friendly family banter and some more than annoying moments for Victus. It also really depends upon Victus' future as well. He as three different paths, I think I've mentioned that before, and it all depends upon some decisions in the future. I would really like to do some Dorne stuff with the children and Victus if I can during the War of the Five Kings.

>Continuation of the quest depends upon the audience following after this climax and the short break thereafter.// Do you really have so little faith in your reader-base? Dad I'm disappointed in you.

It's more a lack of faith in myself to hold an audience. It's still incredible to me that people enjoy this enough to stick with it for 30 threads. Though I imagine the high action we'd be getting into with the Greyjoy Rebellion would be fun for everyone.

>Someone like Brachen likely would have a more interesting role in that battle than the Malroys, but all the same I'd like to it.// Since that quest is dead you could throw him in as a cameo, it'd be neat.

I think I've thrown a little reference to him here and there. I may make a small cameo if we get to that bit, but probably not much there wasn't much to work with regarding Lord Garrette Brachen.

>I might do some little one-shots involving the family and the House after all the major events. This is assuming I get that far of course.// I know I'll play that long, I really want to see how everyone ages and changes.

I really hope we do. This has been a real joy for me.
If nothing else we'll complete the Redward arc. Continuation of the quest depends upon the audience following after this climax and the short break thereafter.
