After all the Redward stuff, are we going to have a timeskip into the "current" time period in the books? I could get behind that if we had a few bonus threads where we play as Obella, our kid and victus during various years. It'd be neat.

I think what I'd like to do after finishing up the Redward arc is take a small hiatus, maybe do a six month timeskip, then go into a smaller arc that ties up a few loose ends regarding another Crownlands House as a bumper between the next big arc.
After that I want to timeskip to The Greyjoy Rebellion. Victus will be 14 then so it'll be his first real taste of combat, Dontos and Brynden likely would both want to get in on that. At the very least Brynden would be called to arms. That would probably just end up being a lot of combat with some interesting Westerlands/Malroy interactions. Someone like Brachen likely would have a more interesting role in that battle than the Malroys, but all the same I'd like to it.
After that probably another timeskip to 297AC do the last years of Jon Arryn's life and then swiftly move into the War of the Five Kings and all that nonsense.
I might do some little one-shots involving the family and the House after all the major events. This is assuming I get that far of course.

Can you tell us what happened between Redward and our sister after that little court session ? She must have been smug as all hell

Isis will be telling Brynden about that at the wedding, because it'll be a good laugh.

Our trueborns are going to cause so much trouble for Victus, arent they ?

Not in a way that will drive them apart.
Victus is going to fall into the older brother roll with Brynden's trueborn children, by the time the War of the Five Kings happens he'll be 24 I believe. Definitely into his prime as a Knight. First born will be 15ish and really getting into the world of Westeros during the height of the books. So Victus will probably fall into the same roll as Dontos does for Brynden, that sort of older family member that has already seen a world of shit. So he'll probably have about as much trouble with them as Dontos has with Brynden. More so if it's girl.

>all of her mother's wit, wile and exotic beauty combined with well Brynden.// Seven above.... What have we done?

Oh wonderful things. I've had a daughter character in mind for awhile now and she's a favorite of mine. Particularly given the time she'll grow up.

So on a scale from 0 to "Oh shit nigga what are we gonna do?" How fucked are we if our first kid is a girl?

What's the step above the second option? That. That's the answer.
Oh she's going to be a hell of a handful, all of her mother's wit, wile and exotic beauty combined with well Brynden. And he's going to have such a soft spot her, she'll have him wrapped around her finger. And really, what do you expect?

so by modern western standards Obella and Giselle are relatively young what was our youngest option for marriage out of curiosity?

Giselle was actually at 17. The Brune girl is 20. Sunglass would have been 19. Vyrwel was 20 I think? Woman in Lys was 33. She had a harem at a surprisingly young age I now realize.

How likly is it for Cersei to have a legitimate child with King Robert in this AU? I always thought it was odd that he never fathered even one legitimate child with her given he fathered a few bastards.

I keep pretty close to canon in most regards. So no chance at all.

How hurt is Wesley over his brother's action? How hurt is Winston? We never really saw Winsfon after the triap

Winston is in shambles right now, he was ready to accept his son going to the wall. But dead, and having lost his mind entirely, attacking a child? He's a wreck, and mostly didn't want to see Brynden afterwards. With Ser Horace's recent information he'll likely harden a bit more and try to be helpful.
For Wesley it was his turning point moment. He was enjoying just being a Knight, chill with his cousin, fight some guys, good times all around. But seeing what happened with his brother, and then with the new information he's going to actively begin to work towards becoming the Lord that Hayford deserves. It has upset him deeply but he feels more for Victus than his brother at this point.

With all the silly talk about Cersei possibly being physically attracted to Brynden, how true is that? Brynden is pretty fine male specimen given all the women who sort of gravitate toward him

Right now probably not. Later on in life with slightly older Brynden when she is losing her shit, I'd say yes. By then Brynden likely would be leveled off, but he probably wouldn't ignore the chance to at least fuck with her head.

Has Dontos ever tried to have relations with women or was he too in love with his sponsor to ever consider it?

Never, he never has had any inclination to even try. Mostly because of the amount of sweating profusely that occurs when he even talks about them.
That being said I should probably flesh out Dontos and his sponsor someday. It would make for a good flashback one shot.

Does the lady Dontos is courting have an inkling of his sexual orientation? I always thought it was kind of an open secret

Lady Alexes Chelsted is entirely aware, she hasn't been subtle about it around Brynden either. It's the reason she wants to marry him actually, she knows she won't have to worry about another child butting into the picture with her current son. Whereas a Chyttering marriage would push towards more children and endanger her son. Plus who wouldn't want to have the Black Knight as Lord Protector of your House?
Regarding Dontos' sexuality it kind of is and kind of isn't. There is always the rumormill but people close to the family or not stupid see through it relatively quickly. Dontos just falls apart when women are involved.

Obella is 19? Damn, I realize fuedal society, but that seems younger then I thought she was.

Giselle was 17 so there's that. Obella when you first met was 18 actually. I don't think it's that much of a difference in age.

So Obella loves Brynden eh? Was it the fu man chu?

It's a weird of/kind of love right now between them both. Brynden isn't quite sure yet, he hasn't really loved since Lysa. And Obella is still scared she'll just become the 'wife'.
Oh and Brynden has a van dyke, Illiad has the fu man chu.

We all know that Brynden enjoyed sleeping around but how much did Victus know about it ? Brynden seems like the kind of guy who would hide it as best as he could from Victus and had the Sons look after him while he was busy. And i doubt Lysa would approve.

Brynden's sleeping around didn't begin until after Lysa's death. Victus is blissfully unaware, he's a kid just wasn't really aware. Brynden tended to hide it relatively well to boot. Very rarely did he bring women back to camp, he usually went to them and Mason, Illiad or Solhas would look after Victus.

Only 4d6? I kinda expected Lucas to have a bigger pool than that.

Lucas has the same pool as Brynden. He does have a bonus die with swords so, I suppose he technically has 5d6. I misspoke a bit on that one.

Who knew that Lucas had it in him to win the whole thing? I mean I was hoping he would, but I didn't actually think he'd make it. What did the rolls look like for that?

I actually simmed the Melee sometime during December when I took my break. Well the final 20 that is. I leveled everyone to an even playing field other than Lucas, Pryor, Sarsfield, Oatwright, and Wesley, who were all rolling with 4d6 as opposed to 3d6 like everyone else.
Lucas got close to losing to Pryor, he was on an absolute tear through the last round. I don't have the sim anymore otherwise I would have shared it with you guys.
I was expecting either Pryor or Lucas to win. That side of the bracket was rough so I figured whoever pulled through that one was going to win it all.

I always forget how old Brynden is, isn't he like early 20's?

Brynden is 24, soon to be 25 in 3 months. I have all the major characters in the House Malroy document with their age and birthdays. Though I may need to update it with a few important people.
For reference:
Dontos is 29, 30 in a month.
Isis just turned 19 last month.
Royce is 26, 27 in 2 months.
Lucas and Jon Longwaters are 22.
Wesley is 17.
Obella is 19.
Mason is 32.
Illiad is 34.

>Brynden's mother would be uneasy about it.// Why ? Would she afraid that the dornish harlot would corrupt and steal her son from her or something ?

That's exactly why actually. Lady Esemella thought very highly of all her children and the best of them all, and saucy little Obella in her Household would have made her incredibly unease. She had a breakdown when Brynden fled to Essos with Lysa, and never quite got over it, as to be expected. Pastorn toned down his own wants to travel and became the Knight that he was expected to be because of it and was all ready to get married. Esemella knew her son better than anyone else, and that's exactly why she was trying to set him up with Lady Sunglass as that marriage in particular would have grounded him relatively well.
Regarding the choice between Obella and Giselle, Brynden's mother would have greatly preferred the latter.

Will you ever stop getting wasted the night before you are suppose to run ?

Hahaha No promises. It was my significant others birthday the night prior, we enjoyed the night a bit too much. I'll make it up to you guys this weekend.

Which match did Brynden's family in mind for him before he ran off with Lysa? What would they say about Obella and the Qorgyle, Malroy didnt exactly have the best terms with Dorne.

There was a Lady Sunglass that Lady Esemella Hayford had been working on for a little bit. I had been considering bringing her up again if people pushed for another Crownlands option. Anyway, Brynden met her once at a Tourney in King's Landing, though this was deep into his relationship with Lysa, so he didn't particularly care for her much despite her being relatively attractive.
Historically speaking, yeah you're right the Malroys didn't have the greatest relationship with the Dornish. Of the last century(?) Dorne and the Targaryens were on better terms, particularly when Rheagar and Elia were married, so Lord Vamos Malroy would have been very proud and happy, while Brynden's mother would be uneasy about it. Donold would have been jealous, as technically the match with the Qorgyles is better than his match with the Celtigars. Pastorn probably would have benefited from it by proxy as he had a bit of an adventurous side like Brynden, but much more subdued, and would have gone to Sandstone, so he'd be a fan. Dontos would have been proud as Brynden's father, of all the Malroys he understands the importance of a good match, which is funny. It's actually not unlike his feelings right now on it.
I won't say much about Isis' feelings on it, as that's a bit of a spoiler.

So what are the odds that our kids with Obella will have the Silver hair and green eyes?

Obella's mother was a Dayne of High Hermitage, it's where she got her dark blue eyes. The Dayne's have a pretty varied appearance, from the Wiki, "Their hair has been described as pale blond (Edric), dark (Ashara), and silver with a streak of black (Gerold). Daynes have been observed with dark blue (Edric) or purple eyes (Ashara and Gerold)."
That being said Obella and Brynden's children have a decent chance to get some of the Valyrian features. Brynden is a bit on the fairer side skin wise, so Obella's genes are going to show through a bit more. Given the Malroy's dark hair is pretty common the most likely combination is dark hair, green eyes, and tan skin for boys. Where odd combinations of silver and black and dark blue/purple eyes are more common for girls.

>Very much a harrying force.// So the Westerosi take on Dothraki screamers? Neat

To an extent yes. Not unlike the arbalesters the Light Cavalry spawns from Brynden's experiences in Essos.

What kind of role would your light cav unit play? Something like melee skirmishers?

Basically yes. Light Cav are the fastest units in the game, being mounted with minimal bulk, statistically speaking of course. They excel at quick lightning raids, with some range in there for good measure. Very much a harrying force.

>And ramped it up to 11 with Brynden, who if you look at without really knowing the quest you would call a mary sue.// He does fit some of the criteria, but not all of it. Not everyone thinks he's perfect and he has real flaws instead of fake mary sue flaws.

That's the funny thing about Brynden. I think on paper he fits the criteria pretty well, but in game it could be anything but, his libido gets him in trouble, i.e. the bastards, he fights way too dangerously and willingly for a man that is the last of his family, and it just goes on. I think the only person that thinks he's perfect is Obella, but that's more young love than anything else.

What made you want to run this quest, what were your thoughts about it and how did you imagine it turning out compared to how it is turning out ? What did your RL group say/think?

Initially, I wanted to fill a void. Brachen had just faltered, I knew Iron & Hate was on a hiatus, and I just decided it was something I really wanted to do. Obviously I love the setting, and I've had a lot of great experiences questing in the ASoIaF quests, AEQ, and a few others, so I just did it. Spent a weekend writing everything up and just went for it. Funny enough I don't write very often anymore, most of my time is spent on my Architecture stuff.
I had participated in Brachen's genning and was mulling over the idea of how to go about House and character gen without it just becoming the same run-of-the-mill House and MC, and that's where I got the idea to just gen everything myself and set up, what I thought at least, a very different sort of MC and House. I wanted everything to be very much different when compared to the rest of the /tg/ Houses. Bordain, Harrock, & Brachen are all centered around Houses that came out on the winners side of the Rebellion. And while Karban never made it that far, and they technically would have fought alongside the Targaryens, obviously it never happened. (Though thinking on it that would be a great thing to reference at some point.) So I wanted a House that was absolutely battered during the Rebellion, which in turn lead to the Valyrian House, but easily being the 'weakest' of the 4 or 5 of them so that there would be really something to work for there.
Brynden and Dontos were both lucky strokes. I actually made Dontos first, he was going to be the MC, and married to a Lady Manning with a child. But then the set up was so much like Harrock I decided to scrap it. And ramped it up to 11 with Brynden, who if you look at without really knowing the quest you would call a mary sue. Good looking rogue with rare a bloodline, last of his family, leader of a sellsword band, sexual dynamo, etc. It's actually kind of funny, and I'm surprised I've never been called on it before. In the end I really like who Brynden and Dontos have become, the internal conflict Brynden is having right now is great. But their characters at the beginning were probably where I decided I could really do this, I've a bunch of writing exercises and it felt like a good fit.
My expectations were honestly kind of low, I didn't really know if I would gain the same traction as Karban, Harrock, and Bordain had, because I had created the House entirely myself. Less investment on the player's end. How things have turned out is incredible, really it's something I'm extremely proud of. I enjoy reading the conversations, paranoia and all. The clear lines on people like Dontos or subjects like the Targaryens. So really this has turned into something that I enjoy a lot and I'm glad people feel the same.
My real life group were surprised I picked it up, and even more so the characters and House I picked out. I've never done anything like the Malroys.
